Arachnid - handmade by Escaron Arachnid - handmade by Escaron
Another one of my "bird spiders". This time not a tarantula, rather a normal house spider.

Made with wire, tin foil, super sculpey, acrylic paint, feathers and glue.

No problem at all! :D
I like Daddy Long-Leg spiders (cellar spiders). They tend to live under couches in my house. Once, a giant one climbed onto my leg when I was eating. :D My reaction was one of absolute horror until I fully processed what it was, haha!

It's got a neat pattern on its abdomen due to the feathers. Kind of segmented. Does it look like that on real spiders? Or is it just a bunch of continuous hair?

Thank you so very much! All your comments make me very happy. YOu´ve totally made my day.
Well, spiders have a loooot of different patterns and shapes to them. Some are super hairy others are short haired, and others have no hair at all, only a "skinn like" body. If you come really close to spiders you truly see how fantastic they look.

Cool. So what do you think of praying mantis'?
I wish so much I had your talent----I am fascinated with all things insect and arachnid.
The only time I experience others being excited about insects is when I watch documentaries about them.
Everyone gets creeped out while I stay enthralled with all the engineering variations---not to mention the diversity of species preservation behaviours and features they have.
I just cannot get over how huge your creatve collection is!!!
You have opened avenues of ideas when I do arts and crafts with my grandkids and how to introduce the awesomeness of "creepy-crawlies" in a fun way.
You'll be in my favs for decades to come I'm sure.

I think mantis are both cool and scary. Not scary as in "eeeew help, eeek!" (I dont act like that about any insect or arachnid) but in the fact that they eat their partners. I know a lot of other insects do it to, and spiders, but I saw a program when I was small, up close on a mantis female chewing on her mates head, and "swinging" like they do when they move, and after that I always thought they where creepy. Haha. :D
But I really love insects as well! Im facinated by them to no ends, and just as you I love to watch nature programs and docimentaris about them. Its so much to learn, and they are truly amazing, how they behave and live and work!

Wow, Im speachless now. This really warmed my heart. Thank you so much for thinking that and saying such nice things. :huggle:
