Prozac Cat

One of the reasons I've been around so little of late is that it's hard to get much done when one of your cats is constantly trying to kill the other one, and then howling nonstop when you separate them. Long story short, it started with a medical condition but became a behavioral problem. We eventually caved and agreed to put Selene on prozac, and about a week or so later, she's once again back to her old happy self. Here she is rolling around happily in the sunlight... instead of sitting nervously staring at her brother, or trying to rip his face off (and nearly succeeding---he has scars).

Hehe! :XD:

Her brother is home and well now. He had an asthma attack apparently. So he gets steroids, an inhaler(!), and antibiotics just in case of a pulmonary infection. But when they took the x-rays they found his heart was also enlarged and he has a heart murmur. Mild, but we'll have to keep an eye on it.

Did they say anything as to why his heart was enlarged. I hope that it can be reversed.

Possibly the early stages of heart disease, but we'll just have to wait and see. Hopefully it won't go any further!

Great photo & title! Sorry to hear you've been having 'kitty issues' - sounds like you have it all sorted out.

I did not know until now that you could put a cat on prozac. But wow, did it help!

Unfortunately now her brother has been at the emergency vet clinic since 1 am with possible heart trouble. I'm still waiting for a call from the cardiologist. :(
