Working on fixing the broken crosspost/social media links in my gallery. Instead of systematically going through every single piece, my rule is "check everything that gets fav'd, update the description if I haven't already."
Most of the reappearing favs are Sailor Moon, Madoka, Steven Universe, the Oz books, and even series I've barely drawn for, like MLP. Hellsing stuff shows up way less. Daily/Colbert and WTNV almost don't get re-fav'd at all. (...except the ones with tiny/giant kink, those are evergreen.) Same with Moon Knight, although certain other Marvel stuff keeps coming back.
"Cartoon women" are the most enduringly-popular thing on DA, huh?
Comment with a deviation you're proud of, and I'll give it a badge! DA is redoing the badge system, so my account has a bunch of "Fragments" to use before they get retired. (Offer ends when I run out, or on August 31, whichever comes first.)
...and on balance, I like it! Some kinks to work out, but the basic design is solid.
It probably helps that the new format was already rolled out for my 2-month-old side account. So I had a chance to play around and get used to it there...but could still fall back on the comfort of the old familiar interface in my decades-old main account.
- I easily found the option to set "NoAI" as my default preset. Users on the relevant news post are complaining about how it's not the boilerplate-default setting, but changing the your-account-default is very quick.
- I can include my social links in the preset description too, instead of copy-and-pasting them every time? Nice!
- Rearranging the layout so the uploaded art is next to the options panel, and always visible no matter what bit of metadata you're editing, is a good change.
- All the options to add emoji, deviation thumbnails, etc. were broken for me in the default editor. I could select things, but they only got added if I was using the full-screen version.
- No ability to search emoji by text description? Please don't make desktop users scroll through the whole wall of them any time we want to use one.
- No more specific "Mature" options? I liked being able to specify whether I was labeling it on account of sexual content, violence, etc.
Kinda worried that DA doesn't intend to change that last problem...but I'm not too down on the rest of them. They seem like technical hiccups, which I expect staff is working on.
Just clued in that the ever-more-unusable Twitter is still in my link copypasta on every deviation. Gonna swap in Mastodon going forward, see how that works: https://universeodon.com/@@ErinPtah
