I know the next logical step would be for me to do Benjamin, but I figured I'd throw you all off and do a hilarious comparison instead.
OMG, past Erin, what were you thinking?
And you know what the sad thing is? Thomas isn't even the craziest comparison! I suppose that's just what happens when you take the villains you create and make them good people. Their past selves are <em.crazy.
Past Thomas, the one in all black, while still Ben's older brother, was a lot...darker. He was supposed to be the main villain for Ben and Ryan, being the one hunting after his baby brother in order tomurder bring him back to their coven. I created him to be the stereotypical vampire sort, at least in modern day terms. You know, pleather pants, goth look, the whole nine yards. The problem was that I couldn't do that sort of goth (still can't), so he ended up looking like...this. But he was the brawn to Ben's brain, so together, they were an unstoppable force, until Ben got tired of that life and ran away.
Current Thomas, the one in red, is...pretty much the opposite of everything he used to be. He's fairly aloof, although I'd say he was the most vampiric of the Norths merely because he doesn't quite have the control that the others do. He doesn't understand what it means to be human, so he delights in the stupid shit that Ryan does. But he's completely harmless now; just amusing. He loves nothing more (other than his wife) than to tease the holy hell out of his little brother, espeically when it involves Ryan somehow. He's also the strongest vampire in my universe (he's the strongest vampire he's ever met, but Word of God says he's the strongest ever), although he doesn't look it. In my world, muscle definition doesn't mean strength; the opposite does. Thomas is hella tall and very lanky. And yet, his strength is crazy. It's a good thing he's a good guy now!
Looking at old Thomas in my current style, he doesn't look all that bad. He still looks silly (and I still can't color pleather), but he looks aight. But he looks really silly next to current Thomas there, who looks absolutely normal. I do sort of feel bad that he's facing the way he is so I can't show off his piercings to make him seem more punkish, but...meh. Making him look utterly normal works as well.
I like their posing. Current Thomas is just eager for a fight (an innocent one) whereas past Thomas is showing off his muscles to show his strong he is. Current Thomas doesn't need to do that. He knows he's strong without showing off.
I like this one; t'is silly.

Man, Thomas' goth years were kind of embarrassing in hindsight. Hanging out with all these goth groupies, it was kind of insane. He must be so glad he got out of that scene, especially before Ben came along, because if his little brother ever knew, he'd never hear the end of it.
Ha ha ha! This is fantastic. I've had kind of a lousy day so this was a really good laugh to come home to.
Look at old Thomas! It's almost hilarious to think that most of the original North clan were the villains because it's so inconceivable now. There's nothing villainous about any of them.
Are we taking bets? Put me down for Robert being the most hilarious considering he went from a slightly chubby older evil guy to...well...Robert
I actually think it's kinda funny how, in a sense, some things about Thomas never changed: his strength, his hair colour (it's just been tweaked a bit), and his absolute lankiness. Personality wise, sure, he got a total makeover. But appearance-wise, there's still a tiny hint of his old self showing through. (Hey, maybe you should've kept the ponytail. I think he could pull it off.
) But haha, oh man, that original looks so hilarious now. It made sense, in a way, when he was from Hart, Inc. since that was rather dark in comparison. But Purebred? No way. It just wouldn't work. Just not possible. Unless this is, like, Thomas' idea of a funny Halloween costume or something. (I have to wonder if old Thomas' outfit was, partially, worn just to intimidate? Like he actually thought it was a bit silly but went with it because it made him look badass? I can't remember his early history so I don't know if I'm making that up or not.)
But yeah, current Thomas looks so...normal by comparison. You'd have no idea he was the strongest vampire in existence. (Well, maybe? I seem to recall other vampires being aware, on some level, that this guy was tough, but again, my memory's bad
) The fact that he doesn't even look very muscular just makes it even funnier. What just makes it even better is that he doesn't really want to fight, except playfully -- not like how he was before, where he actually seemed to be much more thuggish, kind of like Nik is now. Again, his personality got a complete makeover, which is amazing when you consider he was a villain before. I mean, you've had villainous characters become good guys, but never like this. That goes for all the North clan, not just Thomas.
I think the pleather looks okay? The edges look a little jagged but otherwise it looks shiny. The only other way I could think (for you to do it) would be something similar to how you do the hair: one shade lighter, then white on top of that, and then smudge it with a brush, in the direction the folds would be going, and then maybe touch up some spots with the Dodge tool if it didn't look shiny enough. But I agree, that sort of texture is really hard to do right since (to me, anyway), it wouldn't have the same texture as leather. To me the best part isn't the pleather pants, it's the fishnet top with nothing underneath. So goth. Elizabeth would be pleased.
(I suppose that is one benefit of being a vampire, not feeling the cold!) The trench coat comes in at a close second, though. I like current Thomas in plaid shirts like that; somehow they just works well on him.
I can't get over how hilarious this is, and I wish I could come up with something more than just old Thomas' outfit, but seriously..this is probably one of the most dramatic changes in his history. I was hoping for a picture like this for a long, long time...and now I get to see it, and it's every bit as awesome and funny as I expected! I can't wait to see more of the Norths, and more comparisons!
