Description
With this version of the story, I’ve aged up the characters, so that the humans are between graduating high school and starting college. callisto-chan did that with her story, and I liked that concept, because they’re in a transitional period in their life anyway, and I don’t have to worry about them missing school/not graduation. It’s stupid, but it takes a weird worry about of the story.
That being said, I didn’t change that much about the characters, at least most of them. Mickel still has teal hair, but I decided they change his hair back to brown earlier on so people are a little less wary of him. They don’t straight up change him back to looking human, because they don’t want to completely disguise what he is. Kai - well, I always shift back a forth between long and short hair for her, and this happens to be the long hair time for her, lol. I also wanted her to look more like Dev, so I have her dark auburn rather than straight red hair. It helps her stand out less, too. Thanks to the fact that she’s an Erin-non-human, her hair is always perfect, so she doesn’t really think about it being long and wavy.
Aerona also gets a slight tweek as well, but it’s mostly in the form of her having actual yellow hair rather than blond. It’s not hugely noticeable, of course, since the shades are similar.
Obviously the biggest change is with Talia, or rather Ta’lea. I decided she was going to be a non-Aethian alien, and at first, she was very human-esque except for her green hair and purple eyes. Her people’s defining feature was their super-strength, which was one of the reasons why Ta’lea became Aerona’s bodyguard.
But I wanted to make her more ~*~alien~*~, and got to thinking about how callisto-chan had made rabbit furries, and was thinking that maybe I could do something similar. Just not make them cats, right? And maybe not as animalistic. I settled on wolf, cuz wolves are cool! She doesn’t quite have the strength she did before – she got picked because she applied for the position and she and Aerona vibed rather well. That’s not to say she’s not good at being a bodyguard, mind. She is a wolf, after all. 
I’m just…excessively pleased with the outfits I designed for all of them. Well, I mean, Ta’lea is in her Federation uniform, but it’s still cool! I think that might be one reason I keep staring at it. I also like how they do look like they’re posing for a random picture in front of Aerona’s portrait – like, not doing anything extra, but posing awkwardly because they don’t actually know what to do, and I feel like that’s accurate, lol.
Overall, yes, this is a constantly used concept for me, but I do try to make it different each time, and I really do love the outcome of this one.

You might have done this before, but it’s still a delight to see (even if your muse isn’t on this story currently). I like seeing the change over time, especially compared to the first version of this . The characters seem flexible—designs change over the years instead of being fixed, but that could be a consequence of how long you’ve worked on i bit sad to know the “look how t Tedyour hairred isKaithat,” bit probably forsndoesn’twork as well. It can still sorta work, but notcto not tothe same extent. On the flip side, she matches with Dev a lot more now, and that looks nice.
I like Mickel with the dark hair, but that could be because this is closer to his first design than the bright hair he had before (which he still as). Gabby looks really cute as well, I like her design. Yellow is really her colour!
I like Ta’lea’s design (can’t tell if this is in my head, but did you make her darker?) although it took me until now to figure out what was going on with her earrings. All I could see were the circles, and I couldn’t figure out what they were: not in the right spot for gauges, but if they were hoops you would have erased the part hidden by her ears. They’re hoops dangling from the stud. Interesting because I don’t expect that for non-human ears, but I get it now 🙃

oh, I also like Dev with the freckles too, they work surprisingly well in him, I approve!
thr other two aliens haven’t changed much either, but they still look nice. I like that they’re there and still major players after all these years.
