Description
A while ago, I had found a really pretty dress on Amazon that I had jokingly suggested to Callisto-chan that she should draw Jacey in (since I'm not the best at pretty clothes like she is). I had thought about attempting it myself, but honestly never got around to it and sort of forgot about it. And then, unexpectedly, I get this email from her and lo and behold, she did draw it.
But, like, in the best way possible, lol.
The four main characters of The Gifted are couples, with Eve and Dean (the redhead and the Black guy) being together since high school and Jin and Jacey (the blond and the Asian guy) get together within the story itself. (I sometimes feel like the story should be called Two Extremely White Girls and Their PoC Boyfriends, lol) Jin and Jacey happen to work at an aquarium (Jacey's father does as well, and as such, pretty much grew up in the aquarium), so it'd make sense for them all to go on a double date there. I think?
I do love how she drew everyone here. (I'm pretending that Jacey's pointing at the sad looking ray there and telling Jin his name's George or something ridiculous). Jacey looks really pretty and I love the look Jin's giving her. And then Eve and Dean look like a proper adorkable couple (I see Dean being a bit more punkish, but apparently I'm way off base with him, lol. Not my character, so can't really say much. I did manage to pull off the breezy look she was going for him, though, so that's a plus.)
I am pleased with how the proper version looks with the blue tint, since I feel that's how it's actually look under the water there.
I really love how this looks, and so glad for the surprise!

Ha ha, I'm glad I was able to surprise you. I figured if you were suggesting it, you did want it. Just needed to figure out the proper how. I know I was overdue for a Gifted piece and I think we were overdue for a collab, so it worked out in the end, even if getting it there was a struggle.
I'm glad you like it and that colouring wasn't too intimidating lol. That's why I did part of the background, so you'd have less to struggle with. Let me do that instead. There was supposed to be more (one reference image had a stingray, anothr had a shark) but it was looking too crowded, so I decided on one focal point. Sad-Looking Stingray (and I think their faces just look Like That lol).
I really like the blue tone--seeing you play around with those adjustment layers in your work adds a little extra oomph to the whole thing, and the blue makes the characters fit in perfectly with the background. Might not be true/local colour but it still looks excellent and I love that you were able to get it to work. Although poor Jin stands out; not just the red, but a dark rd compared to veryone else lol. I knew it would happen but it's still funny to see.
