So this is a tiny bit out of left field, but I was randomly watching some My Adventures with Superman clips, and while, yeah, technically those should get my muse on Waiting for Superman, a stray thought caused it to leap onto my other superhero story. Really, all it did was make me want to work a little on the new designs for the last boo (whenever I get around to planning/writing that), and while I was doing that, I noticed that Astra was extremely light while Nova was very dark.
But then I decided to give Cosmic Star her bodysuit back, and thus negating the darkness, but meh, whatever. Now they have opposing superhero costumes (bodysuit and leotard).
(Which, admittedly, I think was supposed to be the point? Like, I took the colors from Cosmic Star and gave Celestial Aster the opposite, so it's only natural she would be lighter.)
Seeing that, I was like 'I must draw them together!' and proceeded to pop out this. I didn't really have any other plan in mind, other than the fact that they should both look like they're flying, but I did see Nova in a saluting pose for some reason, so I went with it. And, of course, the light because flying isn't all Cosmic Star can do, unlike Celestial Aster.
I really like the uniforms I designed for these two. Celestial Aster is supposed to be wearing the traditional superheroine leotard, since I have only one other character wearing one. And I figured she would because it's a bit sexier than what most superheroine's wear. The thing is, it does make her look like a superheroine, and its cute, actually! I like the stars on it, since it looks kinda like it's sparkly. As for Cosmic Star, I've actually been fiddling with her book three outfit since I was originally writing Cataclysm, with the idea that she sort of combines her two uniforms in the end. The end result looks really cool, especially since she's not trying quite as hard anymore.
The idea with her hair is that one of the surviving Guild members had developed some sort of nano technology that allows for instant hair color change, so she's able to change her hair as Cosmic Star and remain blond as Nova. I thought it was a neat way for her to keep her blue hair as Cosmic Star without having her dye it or something.
The posing is sort of cool, because Cosmic Star looks all casual (because she's used to flying and defying gravity and all that) whereas Celestial Aster is rather stiff because she isn't used to it. But she looks like the professional and Cosmic Star looks like the newbie, lol. Still, I like it!
I really like what I came up with for the background. Superhero is the title of the third book, and then their titles underneath. I'm not sure how big a role Astra will actually play in the book, but like I said, I just wanted to draw the other of them together, as well as show off their designs.
