I figured I'd roll with these things, and do another one of the hilarious ones. This one isn't as bad as Thomas, but it's up there, I have to admit.
I thought I had given old Caroline red stuff, but it turns out to be...pink. Weird.
The first version of Caroline, the one with short pink hair, is actually a tragic character, I discovered, not necessarily an evil one. I mean, don't get me wrong, she's evil, hunting down Benjamin and all, despite the fact that she's enjoying taking his job and having some power. But when I was rereading her history, I discovered that, well, her fiance is a bit of an...ass. And I have to wonder if he was like that as a human, and she just didn't know it at the time. But basically, she, her fiance, and his brother all got turned at the same time, and they've been together ever since. However, no matter how many times she's asked, and how any ways there's to do it without making it religious, she can't get Thomas to actually marry her. And to make matters worse, she has to dress slutty just to get his attention!
I like how I tried to make it all romantic and whatnot, claiming he keeps her around because he really does ~*~luv~*~ her, but he uses her. He sleeps around with other women, but doesn't seem to want to break it off with his fiancee. And she's trying so hard to get his attention, and she just...she can't. And yet, she can't take a hint, because she does love him. I feel bad for her. Sure, she's evil, but wouldn't anyone be having to deal with that?
Current Caroline, by contrast, is actually the sun and the moon to Thomas. She's also Purebred's answer to Rosalia, in the sense that she's the prettiest vampire, and Ryan does sometimes have...issues with that. But unlike Rosalia, she's actually a very sweet girl, and she doesn't despise Ryan, so Ryan can't bring herself down about her looks. She's a fashionista, or she tries to be. She likes the classics, mostly, and she tries to look elegant as possible. She is a little mistrusting of Ryan at first, but only because she's unsure how Ryan would handle knowing their secret.
She and Thomas have been married since they were both about eighteen or so, right before the Norths fled Philadelphia because they discovered they were being hunted. She considers the Norths to be her family, including Aiden and Amelia (even if Lia makes it a point to get on her nerves. She views her as a pesky little sister.). She's greatly disappointed that she didn't actually get to see Benjamin grow up, but she's proud of the man he's becoming.
Like with Ben, her outfit isn't all that bad in my current style, just sort of funny. I was trying for slutty, and I'm not sure what happened. I had forgotten that she was originally a brown eyed brunette, truth be told. Obviously, that's a dye job, something else to help her stand out. Current Caroline is gorgeous as always, and I love the boots. I didn't know what to do for footwear, and I randomly did that, and I liked it. Mostly because I like the idea that, yeah, she dressed classically, but since she has to keep up with Thomas, her footwear has to be sturdy.
And it looks all right, so added bonus.
Another interesting comparison.

Okay, you’re right — maybe Thomas isn’t the most hilarious (or drastic) thus far. Caroline is a close second! This is seriously hilarious. I’m getting a kick out of the fact that her dyed pink hair actually metamorphosed into her natural red hair colour later on down the line, even though she was, yes, a brown-eyed brunette originally.
The outfit is just…hilarious but also sad at the same time. I can’t remember if she actually showed up in HI (probably not, I don’t think we got that far?), but even from the old picture you got the sense that she was a villain, and very bad — but you could also pity her despite that. A tragic villain, as it were. Thomas was much more of an asshole, but she stuck with him because…well, what other choice did she have in the matter? (That’s the impression I get rereading the old descriptions and such.) But the outrageous dress, just to get his attention — and somehow even that didn’t work!
Is it wrong that I actually kinda…like Caroline’s old outfit? It’s not something that current Caroline would wear by any stretch of the imagination, but it does look kind of punk-ish, and that hair is kind of interesting. Only certain types of characters could pull that look off though. Current Caroline? Not so much.
Current Caroline is all about the classic, feminine look. And somehow that just suits her. I can’t explain why, but she’s just got that classic beauty look to her. (I’d argue that the hair helps. It helps a lot. It’s pretty hair. >.>)
Also I laugh when you say boots aren’t a classic look. Nope. Not classical at all. (Caroline’s probably thrilled that women's boots today are much sturdier than those! Those were usually of thick cloth like denim, or thin leather, and didn’t do much to keep water/mud out. But by gosh, they looked pretty!)
(Also I would like to apologize that the above was just a very drawn-out, extended joke, based on the time period Caroline being from being influenced by classical/Greek fashions, and Caroline being a classical beauty..it’s one of those things that sort of collides together in my head and seems funny at the time.
)
But yeah it’s surprising how well the boots work with that dress.
You wouldn’t think so, but they do. I like that idea, that dainty little flats and heels just don’t cut it when Thomas is your husband. She has to keep up with him somehow.
Like Thomas…and Ben, and all of the original Norths, for that matter, Caroline’s come a long way from her origins. I look forward to seeing her again in July. Awesome picture!
