In my senior year of high school, I took a drawing and painting class. One day, we went out in the woods to create temporary sculptures a la Andy Goldsworthy, photograph them, then on another day, everyone had to pick a photo they liked and paint it. The students could do any one they wanted, even if they didn't make the sculpture themselves, so I chose this one, because I admired it. I was pretty new to painting when I made this. I can still remember another painting of this log done by another student (one who was actually involved in the log sculpture), painted in black and white. That was a fine painting.
