Oni by Erikku8 Oni by Erikku8
This is an oni, another monster from Japanese mythology. The word oni is often translated as "devil" or "ogre," but originally, oni were basically ghosts that made bad things happen. Later, the Japanese started depicting them as corporeal creatures that made their homes in the mountains. Though their features vary in both traditional and modern Japanese art, a lot of common characteristics can be found throughout, such as red skin, tiger skin loincloths, horns, beards, fangs, and tetsubou, or iron clubs.Though traditionally evil, nowadays, oni have become somewhat "Disneyfied."
