Deinonychus by Erikku8 Deinonychus by Erikku8
Greek for "terrible claw." This dinosaur's discovery in the mid-60's greatly broadened our understanding of dromaeosaurids (or "raptors"), since previous specimens were horribly incomplete. More recent dinosaur digs have revealed that they had feathers and paleontologists today believe that deinonychus used its claws to climb trees and flapped its "wings" to maintain its balance.
