A friend, while browsing the book accessories for sale in a Barnes & Noble bookstore with me one day, tugged my sleeve to get my attention. She held up a bookend; it was a sculpture of a young (or very small) dragon, sitting against a tree stump, reading a book. The book was pressed against the dragon's somewhat elongated snout, and the look on its face was one of intense focus and concentration. She said to me: "This is you"; I quirked an eyebrow at her. My love of books, of stories, is well known to all my friends; is that what she meant? I asked her this, and she grinned.
"No", she replied. "See the way it looks as if the dragon is sniffing the book? That's you. You don't read books. You INHALE them!"
That's me, in a nutshell. Stories are to me what air, food, or water is to others. I don't just love them, I need them in my life; I don't think I could survive without stories, in any form - literature, film, art, music.
And so, I write. I sketch, occasionally, although I'm not very good at it. I'm learning to do effects makeup, because I became fed up with cheap Halloween masks. I design games, because games are fun and bring people together - and lead to stories, which is really what my end-game is all about.
I gravitate towards all things dark and mysterious; I once told a friend, in a discussion about religion and the concepts of Light vs Dark: "Yes it's true; the Dark hides things. But you also have to remember that it's the Light that blinds you." My writings tend to fall under the supernatural fantasy, or modern Gothic genres. I also write erotic fiction.
Oh, and I'm King of the Monkeys. They just don't know it yet.
