Dragon Slayer's Bastion by Epic-Leather Dragon Slayer's Bastion by Epic-Leather
Dragon Slayer's Bastion

Included are the following:

Dragon's Head Pauldron
Pauldron Base with Scaled Arm Armor
Oversized Vambrace
Gauntlet Cover (Arm of Fury)
Gauntlet Cover
Gauntlet (2)
Strap Crossroad
Simple Pauldron

All pieces are crafted from 8oz Hardened Veg Tan Leather and 5oz Oiled Leather.

Each piece can be unattached and swapped out with other armor pieces that I craft by tying them in place. Since each portion is separate and connected with softer leather, this allows for fluid movement and comfort for extended use.

This so far is the upper portion, I do plan to finish the set at a later date, but for now here it is.

I will provide a link to a video once I make one to show how it looks when it's in action.

You can find this set or individual pieces for sale/commission at my etsy site under the Armor section located at: [link]

My heart just kipped a beat and I am not entirely sure if it was from being too amazed or too desperate that I simply canīt manage to work with leather like that.

Itīs awesome!
The dragon face itself is already art, and then again the whole armor... wow.

I love this. I hope you donīt mind me asking,
but do you have any advice on how to start working with leather?

I am trying to do some kind of dark crown now, I can make it out of paper and wire, but the leather kind of kills me. :)

Thank you, no not at all. I actually taught myself going off nothing but a few SCA Armor Tutorials a few year back that I found searching some forums. There is a technique called cuir bouilli (boiled leather) that is used in armor making, that is one technique, also I believe the artist Merrimask has a tutorial for mask making on her site, just a basic quick how to. If you need some cheap leather to practice with I suggest buying bellies, they arent the best quality but you can get a few square feet for under $20, check Tandy or Leather Unlimited, I used those for my first few masks till I could afford full hides of the better quality stuff. Do some experimenting and don't be afraid to mess up, leather can be forgiving to a point. I wish you the best.

Ohh, I found it! Thanks a lot :)

I have some strange, kinda thick leather at home, itīs about 0,12 inches thick...
I just realised I canīt sew that either. Plus it will be difficult to get any studs through.
But Iīll try my best, maybe Iīll even buy thinner leather first to make it easier... :)

Thanky ou very much!

Ah, it sounds like its 8oz leather, which is actually the thickness I use on most of my projects. Buy a punch set and a leather awl, you will have to pre punch any holes but you can sew it by hand. Unfortunately you do need a few base tools to get into leather working but for the most part you can get by with a basic set for under $30, you need a punch set (for rivet holes), awl (only if you want to sew), a rivet setter/anvil (if you plan on using rivets) and blades.

For now I donīt have exactly these... but I do have a pointy metal stick thing I could use to do little holes for sewing. And my mother should have something similar to that punch stuff. She uses it for getting studs into clothing or coats, first make a hole with that and then stick the studs through.
Hmm... gonna try it with these. I also have some kind of burniing pen, which is mostly used to burn things into wood. The package says it can be used to draw on leather, too. Maybe I should try.. :)

Thanks a lot for all.

The arm kinda reminds me of Nightmare, from the Soul Calibur series. I love it! I would totally wear it with regular armor on the rest of me, just for that look!

The design and shapes look really good except how it's most a mask and one arm it looks incomplete, but an entire armour set may be way too much lol

It looks too busy in some places maybe you should have used a darker/diff colour for the scales?

Thanks! Well as mentioned it is an incomplete project, since then Ive made a kilt to accompany it and other pieces planned, but its a learning process and a costly one so It may be a while till I construct another, but it will come. ^^
