Head study of a large, recently discovered rauisuchian from the Middle Triassic of Southern Brazil.
Karamuru vorax is sometimes considered as a junior synonym of Prestosuchus chiniquensis, another large rauisuchian from Middle Triassic of Brazil. This particular species was described based on a 1 meter long preserved skull. Its total lenght is estimated in 6 meters. Karamuru was found in the same sedimentary rocks where some of the most primitive dinosaurs known, such as Staurikosaurus and Guaibasaurus, were also found.
