Dickie always said these things would kill me. Sam took another drag on her cigarette, slowly exhaling the smoke out into the night air. Lounging against a broken and rotting wall on the second floor of an equally broken and rotten house wasn't a fairly safe thing to do, but to be fair neither was going for a walk or even going to sleep. Taking another puff her brown eyes squinted as she looked hard into the distance, inspecting the ever prevalent glades that surrounded this small "oasis". Motion was the key thing, too many predators out here were more than capable of hiding themselves until needing to strike. The biggest worry she had at th

A shudder ran through the man's body, eliciting a coarse coughing fit he immediately regretted. Clutching a dirty rag over his mouth until the spell had passed, he was a little worried he may have caught something particularly bad. Overall though, coming down with some illness was one of his least worries. Much more immediately was his surroundings, furtively glancing around as he lowered his rag covered hand into the similarly dirt-covered shawl he had on top of his worn clothing. The districts down here, in the lower areas of Taras, were not places to linger for too long, draw attention to oneself, or flaunt being weakened in some fashion.

Of Draconian Measures

The far off screeching of a native bird echoed in the quiet night. Though the foliage in the forest whispered with the wing, there were hardly any animals active. The majority of them could feel the energy coming out of the very ground. Faint levels of radiation could be detected in select areas, places reasonably guessed to be a vent of sorts for whatever the Draconus Secessionists were building in secret. With the level of radioactive bleed out occurring, they were likely to be in the late stages of preparation. Advancing through the woods in a staggered point formation at a painfully slow pace, she and the rest of Team Bronze were taking

A long, mournful would cry echoed out. Loud and carrying far, she was certain that it wasn't the product of her imagination. There certainly were wolves in the area, she was staring down a pack of them at the moment. Even inside the bustling, dirt-packed streets of this outlying city she had been run to ground. The well-made brick buildings, the calls of merchants hawking their wares in the lower income district, the mixed scent of food, sweat, dirt and shit had all lulled her into complacency. It was summertime. That was the first thing she reminded herself. That was why a crack of unbelievably bright light dominated her half-awakened thoughts. It was also why the insufferably constant sing-song voices of birds filtered in through the same window. Kouryou didn't want the outside world of light and birds and grass, she just wanted to hide in bed for awhile longer. Trying to forget something. The faint smell of rosemary that brought her lurching up in a swift motion. Kouryou's sleep-addled body weakly groped at the cold steel sword that had shared her bed that night. The same thing that had shared her bed ever since Amoena's had go

The four of them roughly tumbled into a warmly lit room, contrasting sharply to the blisteringly hot and empty room they had just fled in haste. This place was a safe zone, one of the many little pocket-domains the Masters created for their creations to reside until such a time they could be placed in a proper site. Stocked with full bookshelves, a beige couch with matching chairs surrounding a wooden coffee table that dominated the center of the room. A white rug covered the floor wall to wall, the pale yellow paint on them seemed fairly tacky, but their Master wasn't concerned deeply with their impression of it. It could have been worse, it

Spring time seemed to be in full swing for the forest. The brilliant green leaves of the large trees were all quietly whispering in the gentle breeze. Here and their the sing song warbles of birds came from hidden spots in the vegetation, a whole world of avian politics going on that the sole human was a listener to but with no chance of comprehension. The lonely, dirt path that had been tracked out of the wild solely through use by farmers and travelers was now an inhabitant to one man. He was resplendently clad in a dark, matte grey armor. The deep bass roar of the Big Daddy was loud enough to send vibrations through her body, the closest thing it could be imagined as was a furious bull and a whale crying out from the same throat. She was lying as still as she could, soaked to the bone under the stream of bitterly cold salt water coming in from some leak in the ceiling. The little alcove was filled with rubble and Alice who had sprawled out in the darkened corner to hide, just another body in the fallen city of Rapture. The dripping fall blurred the outlines of the powerfully built guardian and the smaller, frantic ones of other Splicers. The others had moved to jump her, and

A few sub-boards on this site were havens to her, a playground to her very existence. This one, the one her prey had fled to, was drastically different. The heavy cogs ground out their deep note as the drawbridge lowered itself. Connecting the vast, baroque palace made entirely out of brass to the desolate, rocky dirt in this subterranean complex of darkness and lava. The heavy metal bridge impacted the dry ground and set up a cloud of dust as well as setting the four-legged avian creature backpedaling a few steps. The rider atop the creature stroked its neck while whispering to it to calm down. The mount was draped with a vivid plumage that belonged on creatures more suited to a tropical zone than the burned out shell of this area in Esponia, but neither the bird nor rider were from this are

The gentle ping flowed in the ever present blackness. The only color to break this emanated from the sole being and the area around it. As if it's mere presence broke this dark plane, the spot where its two feet touched radiated a white light from below, with it stretching out at random in all directions with spider cracks of white light. They trailed just a few feet before fading away entirely, consumed by the looming dark. The thing looming over this spot of radiance was beginning to convulse once the singular note had been heard. An unnatural red cloak pooled about it much as blood would from an open wound. Seemingly fearful of the open a
