MEMES Species Sheet [OPEN SPECIES]

I've wanted to put up an open species for a long time now, but never quite pinned down exactly what I was going to make. But, after a little artistic spasm last night, I finally got something made for you peeps to enjoy! Introducing the MEMES!

MEMES are an artificially created species no larger than a turkey made to help their masters assess the health of biospheres on soon-to-be-colonized planets. What will happen is that a survey team will release a set number of micro-chipped MEMES out into the wild and track their activity to see how successful they are at surviving and what traits they pick up from the native life. This makes it easier to figure out what adaptations are the most useful in the environment any particular MEMES was released into.

In order for a MEMES to obtain a new trait, it needs to mate and produce offspring with one of the native fauna. Sex and specific physiology do not affect whether or not a MEMES can breed with something. During reproduction, the MEMES collects some amount of its partner's DNA or nearest equivalent and uses it to change its own body to better adapt to its environment. MEMES only add traits or tweak current ones. They'll never lose their basic bodily features; This allows a MEMES to always be easily identifiable as a MEMES. These newly obtained traits can be passed on to future offspring.

MEMES are about two feet tall at the shoulder, making them very easy to handle for most races. An unaltered MEMES cannot bite or scratch, making them very safe pet animals as well as useful tools for scientists. They also aren't particularly noisy and whistle and toot quietly to communicate. MEMES can subsist off of any organic liquid or very soft organisms. Good examples of things on Earth they could eat are nectar, pond scum, slugs, ants, icecream, and jellyfish (though whether or not this is a GOOD IDEA on the MEMES' part is debatable). You might want to be careful when they're eyeing up something gross and mushy that YOU wouldn't touch though...

Star! MEMES RULES Star!

tick MEMES are an OPEN SPECIES, so you may make as many as you'd like, but please make a reference for each one and link to it on this deviation so I can keep track of them!

:X: You cannot sell or trade MEMES. Everybody needs to make their own, as your MEMES are meant to be yours and yours alone! You need to sweat for that cool MEMES with all the rad traits you want!

Bullet; Black MEMES can be bred with any species aside from their own. Therefore, though you cannot breed for more MEMES, you're completely free to hybridize them with other species and sell or keep those offspring! The offspring will not have the adaptive ability of the MEMES parent.

Bullet; Black When MEMES breed successfully (as in you draw and post their offspring), you're allowed to add one trait to your MEMES. Please link to their offspring and show what trait they got for it on their reference as follows:

(link to offspring sheet) + Fox Ears
(link to offspring sheet) + Fly Wings
(link to offspring sheet) + Dragon Claws

Bullet; Black As your MEMES changes and you update their reference sheet, the new traits they gain can be passed down to their offspring. If you breed your MEMES strategically, you might end up with a really neat and desirable breedable!

AND FINALLY: Please credit me at EnterTheDwelling for the MEMES. Thank you for your interest!
