Mission Statement & Purpose

TMNTContests is a group founded by EnsoDancer with the mission of promoting community and camaraderie among the TMNT fandom though friendly, fair and fun contest and community activities. This group will:

1. Host monthly theme-based challenges that spark creativity and the creation of new TMNT related art and literature. In the spirit of innovation and artistic freedom, limits on interpretations of various themes will be held to a minimum.

2. Feature the "People's choice" of TMNT fanart by allowing winners of the monthly competitive challenges to be chosen by popular vote.

3. Provide opportunites for everyone to participate with bi-monthly non-competitive challenges.

4. Provide a contest advertisement service by featuring upcoming TMNT related contests on the group homepage. (See below to submit your contests).

5. Provide other occasional fun community building activities for the DA TMNT fandom.

Membership

Any deviant may join. All join requests are automatically accepted. Our group works best when its members are active. Members are encouraged to get involved by:

  • Entering challenges
  • Participating in community activities.
  • Submitting to the "Feature Me Folder" folder for a possible feature.
  • Voting in challenges
  • Voting on new challenge themes
  • Promoting their own or others contests to the group by adding to the appropriate favorites folder
  • Spreading the word about TMNTContests
  • Donating to support prizes and super group status
  • Volunteering to help with community events when needed
  • Congratulating & supporting winners and ALL contest participants.

Entering Monthly Challenges
New challenge announcements are published to the TMNTContests journal around the 1st of each month.  Be sure to watch the group's journal to receive these announcements. To enter:

:bademoticon: Review the Inspiration Feature that accompanies each challenge announcement for ideas on the types of work that may fit the theme.

:bademoticon: Read the theme description and all "fine print" guidelines. Note that each challenge may have slightly different guidelines so please read carefully.

:bademoticon: Note whether the challenge is competitive or non-competitive.

:bademoticon: Create a NEW piece of visual art or literature that you feel exemplifies the theme and that adheres to all guidelines.

:bademoticon: Submit to the appropriate challenge folder before the end of the month. All entries must have a DA submission date on or after the 1st of the challenge month.

:bademoticon: If the challenge is competitive, when the challenge closes, ensure your entry was placed on the ballot and then vote for your favorites.

:bademoticon: If the challenge is competitive, wait for the winner feature to be published to the group's journal (usually 10-20 days after the challenge deadline.) Or if the challenge was non-competitive a feature of all participants is published.

:bademoticon: In the meantime start on the next month's challenge:wink: rvmp

:police: Submission Guidelines/Warnings

As stated above this group puts very few limits on the interpretation of themes and so  all submissions within DA guidelines are accepted and may appear in our galleries. This may include but is not limited to: AU, OC, Tcest, R-rated, etc... except where it is specifically stated otherwise in the contest announcement.  All art and literature of a mature nature must be appropriately tagged/filtered  and provide prominent warnings so that that those wishing to avoid may do so.

:police: CAMPAIGNING FOR OR BUYING VOTES IS PROHIBITED
You may let viewers of your work know you've entered a contest and encourage them to vote for their favorites, whomever they may be. However, any statements which seem to unfairly pressure voters to vote a certain way or encourage voters not to evaluate ALL entries may be grounds for disqualification. Repeated instances can result in dismissal from the group.

Voting

Voting is perhaps as or more fun than entering challenges because you are supporting your fellow TMNT fans. To Vote:

1. Wait for the official ballot to be published, usually within 72hrs of the end of a competitive challenge month. The ballot will assign each entry a letter.

2. Review all the entries.

3. Use the VOTE NOW button on the ballot to submit a Note NOTE ranking your favorites.

:bademoticon: You must vote for more than one entry. To encourage voters to review all entries, you are required to rank your selections. The minimum # of rankings for a valid vote (usually top 3) is listed in the ballot and is based on the total number of entries.

:bademoticon: Any member of Deviantart may vote. Membership is not required. Contestants are allowed and encouraged to vote but may not vote for their own work.

:bademoticon: PLEASE DO NOT ever post your vote as a comment on the ballot. There is always a VOTE NOW button provided to submit your vote privately by note. This maintains the surprise for winners as well as voter anonymity.

:bademoticon:  Are there any rules for what to vote on? No, you may vote for your own personal favorites. We do however encourage you to review both literature and visual art as both types of artists deserve fair consideration. We also ask that you vote based your opinion of the quality of the work and adherence to the theme rather than simply who is your friend.
