Actually, I don't know if the Naruto Fandom is even alive anymore. I need to talk about this with you guys.
I notice a huge drop of Naruto fans in the fandom and heck even from other famous Naruto fan artist that use to have a lot of views to barely nothing. These were famous Naruto fan artist that I also saw them drop from Naruto fandom like nothing. I also seen more people left heart broken, disappointment or simply disgust of the 700 and Naruto Gaiden. I actually seen Naruto Canon-fans attacking other Naruto Fanon fans to accept their Canons...*blinks* No one should force anyone to like something they don't like. If these fans are happy with the ending 698, than let them be happy with it. If the other side of the fans like 700, than enjoy it with your group. Don't force it in other fan's throat. These Fanon knows its there, and they can choose to ignore it.
Kishimoto's interview...yeah wow...just wow. Did you guys see that? Most of the time I was like O.o EHH??!!! I have no clue what Kishi is trying to accomplish with the choice of words he say...it's like he wants to make sure he gets rid of other side of his fans or completely place fans against each other. I don't know which, but he's doing a great job of it!
Mind you, I am going to finish Chapter 6 of Discomfort for you guys...but the more I see the fandom. The more dishearted I get. I don't know who to blame for this battle...Kishi or SWJ? It's really hard to love a manga that used to bring spirits up when they were low, but doesn't anymore. *blinks*
What do you guys think? I like to hear your guy's thoughts on it.
I still enjoy Naruto, and I focus on the good. If you focus on the bad, you become a goth. XD
Naruto is still one of my favorite manga series. Just go with the flow as I say.
First: This is absolutely great! I love the artwork and the story behind it looks very promising. Can't wait to see it.
Second: You're right about what's going on in the fandom. It has become harder to get the attention of people because so many gave up on "Naruto", be it artists or fans. Please don't let yourself become discouraged by the common abandoning of people. There are still enough left who enjoy Naruto fanart. And to be precise, there are so many who love your doujinshi and artwork and admire you. So please don't give it up! I love your doujinshi and would follow you through hell and back just to have a look on it.
Don't despair, I think the Boruto movie will bring back a lot of fans soon.
Third: I totally second your words about canon and fanon. I can't believe that people even bother about the preferences of other people. Why can't people just be tolerant and let others like what they like? I don't bother about people liking SasuSaku, though it's absolutely not my piece of cake. But it's totally ok for me when others like it, even if it wasn't canon. Hell, there's even a crazy fangirl liking SasuDanzo! LOL, just LOL. I think it's funny and if it makes her happy let her enjoy it. XD
Kishimoto has given so many interviews, I've lost track of them. In every interview he told contradictionary things. I don't say he's a liar, I think he's just a compulsive troll or maybe that's the Japanese way of humor... Idk.
So I just don't listen anymore to anything he says. Hn.
I really hope to see something of your artwork soon.
if the viwes dropped, is because kishimoto final is just bullshit. This is WHY i like PERIOD.
If you want to be worshipped, i can post you work all over the internet, just like a massive virus or something. But please dont quit.
The epilogue and Gaiden were both rather terrible. I can get on board with Naruto/Hinata shipping - not my primary choice, but eh - but the way it was executed was in bad flavour. Hinata never really evolved beyond the shy, kind girl and married an workaholic who was never there for her or his children anymore. It's an ironic twist, one that repeats the dark days of his childhood. Boruto has his mother but his father is never there.
Sakura and her ending was - I have no words. I liked the concept of her character - she is the normal person amidst team of heir to the royal, quasi-divine bloodlines of ninja world. She becomes strong and Kishi fails to take that anywhere productive. He then manages to describe an marriage even worse than the one Naruto and Hinata, by miles. I could go on, but this is already feeling like a rant.So yes, you could say I don't like the ending to Naruto and you would be right.
Is the fandom dying - perhaps? It's more of a really slow decline, the ardent fans only jumping the ship years later to the fandom of the next series enjoying the popularity of Big Three. One Piece being the exception, that series is still going strong.
I actually like the idea of Kaguya, myself, but I would like to know more where she came from. Instead of a plant, I want to know if she came from somewhere else. I think it would've been a interesting story where "magic" came from. I would be fine with Madara as the endgame boss, but I wanted to be more epic than what he got. Heck, I actually liked the idea of the ending that he did win and made everyone think he lost. They slept inside those cocoons and only than to bring Kaguya later on as some sort of virus....lol Matrix. Well, something like that.
Everything else you say, I agree.
The ultimate fight had been disappointing, I agree. I do doubt there would ever be a ending where Madara or any villain would win ultimate - this is shounen we are talking about, the odds of that happening are low. The whole dream sequence shenanigans had been out of place, I agree. If the story had introduced the concept of "What's real anyway" beforehand, I think I would have been happier with it. They were already in her power, why give them dreams at all?
Reading chapter 700 also actually made even me drop the pencil in shock and I also stopped watching the anime saying who cares, I don't want to see this series going downhill again. I was just disappointed so I went back to the good old beginnings, when the story wasn't for the sake of making the most money possible but for The STORY.
SasuSaku ending up cannon seriously surprised me. Like there wasn't even one Sasu pairing I could agree too. Some know I shipped SasuKarin but I actually CHANGED both of the characters to fit each other, that is also a thing that works only this way in my opinion. I personally think no girl but not even a boy fits Sasuke in the whole series. Salad looking like Karin and being Sakura's daughter was a punch in the gut for me. That big it almost made me slap my computer screen off of my table.... like you know when you think that your long forgotten (I didn't ship it anymre at that point) ship turned canaon proving you right.... and them it just didn't. I just felt betrayed ._.
(I wrote this to tell you my opinion and that I'm still alive and working, so don't worry, I'm working on it. I'm just really slow because of some other things. ^^")
I don't think anyone really wanted Sakura and Sasuke together, not the way how they treated each other. After reading what Kishimoto say, even he sounds like he regrets putting them together…but for two characters to be force together for the sake of a next gen…that's sad. I'm not saying that Sasuke is a saint, because he wasn't, he hurt a lot of people around him, but I didn't imagine him to get together with anyone until he has gotten better or some sort of character growth, emotions of guilt, etc. *pouts* Like Zuko from AtlA. (which I am going to do in Naruto Period.)
That's fine, I asked for it. ^.^ I greatly enjoy it.
don’t know why I still read spoilers concerning shit from ‘Naruto’. I guess I still hope for something good to come out of it, but no matter what I read, it all just looks like useless fanservice to me - the kind that NEVER leads you anywhere.
‘Boruto - Naruto the Movie’ is just that. More excuses to trash our favorite characters, more pairing bullshit, more plot incongruences, and still, NOTHING fixed.
The way I see it, this whole Sasuke/Boruto bonding is nothing but a way to strenghten the fans’ vision of the bond of ‘canon’ pairings. Think about it. Sasuke goes visit Naruto’s home and talks to his wife, then accepts to train his kid and acts as Boruto’s protector when Naruto is being a douche. Yeah Sasuke, you’re one to talk about anything of the sort. But hey, let’s just randomly visit each other at each other’s places because we’re all SUCH good friends.
There’s already a barrier between them because supposedly ‘Sasuke has finally returned’, but there’s nothing special about it, and it’s not a big deal at all. He’s just back and both families interact easily, it seems, throughout the movie. The distance between those two is still the same because they have different lives now and that won’t change regardless of how they interact with each other’s kids. Naruto and Sasuke have been WORLDS apart from the moment Sasuke left Konoha and Naruto let him go. It’s just… fucking THERE, like, they have lost connection, they aren’t even normal friends, they are even lesser friends than they were when Naruto was chasing after Sasuke because now, even if they are apart, they have people in their lives who took their attention away from each other. Acting like this isn’t a big deal won’t change it.
Their families drew them apart and forced them to break the bond.
If this was their old selves, this wouldn’t have happened. But then again, if this was their older selves, they probably would’ve never gotten married and have kids in the first place.
All the while, we have Boruto and Sarada blushing around each other. LOL. Can you get MORE obvious? Can you really CONFIRM SNS AND CRUSH IT AT THE SAME TIME IN A LESS OBVIOUS WAY, KISHIMOTO-SAN???
Let’s hint that SNS was canon but that it changed when the gUys got together with the girls because hey, love doesn’t need a reason, and thus, they don’t need a valid reason to apparently love their wives more than they love each other thus making them forget how deeply conneCted they were to each other.
But hey, their kids will become canon, so that makes up for it, right?
And then, yeah, Sasuke and Sakura don’t talk during the movie, but pictures/images of ‘the families’ appear at the end of the movie (as well as Sasuke and Sakura standing together while watching ‘the new team 7′), to settle that THAT’S canon and that they ‘are where they’re supposed to be in the end’.
Because, if this was that much Naruto/Sasuke/Boruto focused, it would be the three of them standing together in the end. But no, it’s fucking SasuSaku. OMG I wanna throw up. At least make BOTH pairings stand together while they watched their kids, that would give the right vibe to context of the movie, no?
This is NOT a pretend SasuNaruBoru family scenario at all. I don’t even know what to call it, it’s just… useless stuff again. Useless stuff and SasuSaku being given useless spotlights again for no apparent reason while BoruSara expectedly become semi-canon.
Sasuke and Naruto probably won’t even interact much in the movie and nothing will be ‘settled’ between them. Even if they fight side by side and protect each other… what’s that? It’s nothing. IT’S FUCKING NOTHING. Just they fighting dynamics being used for the WOW factor, nothing more.
Nothing is resolved, nothing is explained, and in the end, no-one cares that Sasuke has been away or that Naruto has been a neglecting father and their bond is STILL trashed to give the ‘canon families’ credit.
I don’t understand.
So don’t say that this is SNS fanservice or queerbaiting, please. Don’t say that this movie isn’t pairing focused, because all I see is fucking pairing fanservice, mostly and exclusively for the canon pairings’ lovers.
Sasuke’s and Naruto’s bond is DEAD, and not even Burrito is there to revive it.
They split ways long ago, and will never come together again. EVER.
God, why. And I was still hoping that it was all a genjutsu in the end.
WHY KISHIMOTO. YOU SHOULD’VE KILLED THEM. THE LEAST YOU COULD’VE DONE WAS KILLING THEM IN THE END OF THE FUCKING MOVIE AND THEY’D DIE TOGETHER PROTECTING THE FUCKING VILLAGE OR SOMETHING!
Again, 15 years of an unbreakable bond thrown to the garbage for one single shot of the ‘happy families’.
I want to cry. I seriously do.
If the movie isn’t like this, and if, indeed, there’s a PROPER work done on Sasuke and Naruto’s bond in spite of the pairings, please, let me know so I can take it all back and give Kishi proper credit.
But I doubt it. Everything since chapter 698 has been a huge pile of shit that keeps getting worse, so I am the idiot one to expect that something good might happen to fix everything.
The movie will be successful because it’s focused on the main characters and actually has lots of fights. People who are neutral won’t even notice the pairing fanservice details, and pro-ending folks and pro-pairings folks will just LOOOOOOVE the subtle pro-pairing hints that I’m just mentioning and will shout them to the skies.
All the while, us antis will still feel unsatified at the lack of plot development and a suitable closure for this story and find it all terribly bitter and hard to swallow. I haven’t even seen the movie yet and already I’m disappointed and annoyed.
I’m just tired of how fucking disappointing this whole thing has become. I’m tired of feeling so sad all the time whenever I see new shit coming up that just the same pile of crap as usual.
Watching something I loved being destroyed because of shitty pairings and useless family issues that shouldn’t even exist if the characters had been consistent with their former selves…
I’ll never get over it for as long as I live.
I don’t see the movie being a “success”. Most Japanese Naruto fans ditched the series after The Last and Gaiden was highly disliked by the people that did read it. Many people probably won’t see the movie just on principle from what happened with The Last, as many were pissed off by the deceptive marketing surrounding that movie. I think people will be more cautious this time.
Judging from the spoilers I’ve read I don’t see many people taking a chance with it even after hearing from curious friends who go to see it. It sounds extremely filler-y and forced, and actually…pretty boring. It doesn’t even sound like a plot that would piss me off like The Last would, it just sounds like something I’d be constantly sighing and rolling my eyes at. But we’ll see I guess? Eh, I have no hopes for it. The fact that there are so many spoilers out already, like blue-analytic said, means there’s very little room for curiosity or suspense anyway. People will go see it, confirm whether or not the spoilers are true, and the people who were interested to begin with will go see it while everyone else will go see Fantastic Four (which will probably also suck tbh).
The only way to gauge how well the movie will do before it releases is to see how many Japanese Naruto fans are still active fans of the series. And judging by the reaction to Gaiden and the activity on 2ch regarding the series, it appears that the fanbase has diminished considerably. Are there enough still around who are willing to watch the movie to allow the Boruto movie to turn a profit? Possibly, but we’ll also never know how successful the movie is without SP releasing a budget. It’ll always be speculation.
So let’s just wait and see, judge when it comes out, then move on and hope that they don’t decide to make another Gaiden or spin-off anime on this next gen. -shudders-
One thing I can say for sure is I AWAIT WITH BAITED BREATH FOR YOUR STORY TO CONTINUE! The Naruto ending, Gaiden, none of that has affected how much I look forward to your donjinshi. This is such a massive project you have undertaken and I want you to know you have lots of support, and a lot more guts than I do! Thank you for sticking with this and making me smile when life and the Naruto franchise could not, or did the opposite. Thank you for the laughs, smiles, and even occasional cries, you make me feel for these characters which is priceless. Thank you!
More so as i what to now what going on with Karin at the top. She look down right evil in that drawing. Winch i dont really mind so long if she is evil it not because Sakura dating Sasuke or some thing like that.
Boruto The Movie vs Fantastic Four
They are trying so hard to get people to watch their Boruto the Movie lol promoting the hell of it, throwing a bit here and a bit there. But what I heard it will be airing the same time as Fantastic Four, I would like to see how that will go down for Studio Pierrot as there are not many fans who want to watch their bulls*it any more and what they have got to offer
Wow...I did hear about how SP got in a lot of trouble messing around with Tokyo Ghoul. I guess they finally realized not to mess with fans stories and characters that they love. When fans fall in love with characters...death lingers at their doors (heck even the creator's door).
But yeah...still wow...
Soooooo–after the release of that infamous interview, the anti thread in 2ch forums had exploded. It already existed before, but now it’s currently in 2nd in the Naruto forum in 2ch.
I had the pleasure in reading it and oh boy, oh boy, is it entertaining. I selected some for your viewing pleasure:
By the way, there wasn’t any pro-thread debating this interview.
“The reason why Naruto and Sasuke neglects their own kids <– the author himself does so, and because of that he paints this action in some sort of a positive light
The reader had expectations in seeing Naruto as an adult and how he interacts with his normal family. I wanted to see how this character once more mature would thoughtfully plan about numerous situations.
But Kishimoto’s own personality has weighed on Naruto and Sasuke, seeking his own self-indulgent preferences over them.
In the end, they are just completely different characters with the same name huh?”
There are several posts who agrees with this post and I’m too lazy to translate ‘em all lol.
“What the hell is the top Shounen Jump quality manga, my memories as reader have been tarnished. The writer definitely wrote for his own kids to read it. But for what reason you’d publish in a professional magazine when it’s about your own personal feelings. Usually someone would know how to divide private and public situations, and usually someone should understand that projecting about his own problems will sound more like ton of bullshit.
He should have some self-awareness…this mangaka makes no sense.”
“’LOLOLOL Sakura is addicted to Sasuke that’s why I can’t explain how she came to like him’
whaaaaaat–That psycho woman probably just threw away the condom-
And then she’s just too dependent over a guy, such a twisted life that she wasted over, what the hell is this shounen manga.
It feels like–the guy gave the dick only once, but she’s so shallow she doesn’t care how she’s displaying her greed to other people, this is the ultimate result about a heroine in a shounen manga lolololol
This is not how an normal adult would behave, displaying such ugliness.”
“In comparison to male characters, he’s much more crueler describing his female characters. The female characters is nothing but accessories to the male characters.”
“Addicted to Sasuke, the writer just admitted that Sakura needs to seek treatment for her sickness.”
“It’ll sound phony if he wrote the reason why Sakura loves Sasuke…Isn’t it simply how he also doesn’t know how to write Sasuke’s reasons to love?
If it was really important, Kishimoto would grasp Sakura’s own feelings and write it down, but he didn’t consider about this at all right?
What if the reason a girl would love a guy was 'my duty is to wait’ there’s no way he could have chosen this path
The other would be ‘I’m a criminal asshole who have discarded you but I love you!’ this thought probably had gone in Kishimoto’s head.”
“The reason why Sakura would love Sasuke, he could have used this opportunity in an outside work right (ex.: Gaiden, novels, etc)?
Maybe the decline of Sasuke’s popularity stopped him to do this? He couldn’t write.
Maybe this is for the best.
Naruto’s framework will be ending with this movie, in the end a movie will end a 20 years of franchise, just like DragonBall. There’s this sense of defeat
Doesn’t matter how many years, 1 year or 10 years, Rurouni Kenshin had absolutely remained dear even with the remake.
Meanwhile, with the release of Gaiden, the author just had worsened what was already bad. I guess he lost his willpower to write.”
“I was expecting before Sasuke and Sakura’s feelings would be shown in Gaiden but was edited out…because back time I thought I saw some spoilers that Sasuke and Sakura had gotten closer.
But now there’s no way there was some edit, no, this whole thing is a fucking lie.”
“Addiction to Sasuke, whoa, this feels so disgusting.
This sound like some stupid hentai about Sakura bathing in Sasuke’s jizz.
He could write the reasons why Karin came to love Sasuke, but he deliberately avoided Sakura’s because it’d sound like it’s a lie? And Karin used the same speech as the hero’s (Naruto) when she saved him?”
“Sakura is addicted to a man even if she didn’t see him for over 10 years? In other words, if Sakura is addicted to Sasuke, I can’t even imagine Naruto then, he’d be a cripple lololololol”
“So Sakura chased Sasuke because she was having a relapse from addiction huh. Even his daughter who is more intelligent was already pacified in only one afternoon lol”
“She acts exactly like her 12 years version, so disgusting.”
A natural progress of loving, to slowly get accustomed and come to love someone, yeah I can’t imagine this with Sasu/Saku. Such extremely weird couple, how are they supposed to get used with each other over time? This is the vibe I get.
This relationship feels weird in my head, maybe I’m asking for too much to find a reason behind this.
But Kishimoto’s Sasu/Saku bonds is completely empty, I guess it’s funny that there’s nothing to add in it.”
“Kishimoto swore that Naruto and Sakura’s situation was just a red herring. “I didn’t realize that my intentions were misinterpreted.” something like that. As if I’m able to believe his real intentions.
It’s really difficult to write how my characters end up loving each other, this is such a weak excuse.
“I just wanted to get them back together.” this kind of excuse is actually better.
Kishimoto’s portrayal of Sasuke and Sakura is giving me an ulcer.”
“Sasuke and Sakura’s relationship is something I did not need the most.”
“Sakura’s feelings is over the top terrible. She’s able to be happy with this, what a wacko housewaifu.”
“Addiction, that’s not anyone’s regular behavior, she has became obsessed with Sasuke, this is not the appropriate way of loving someone.
It feels more like there’s simply no reason behind this.
Didn’t the author read the interview before letting it release? It’s just too much.
Select better the words you’re spouting dammit.”
“Naruto was almost captured to extract Kyuubi and Hinata’s confession = amounted to nothing.
The skirmish between Naruto and Sasuke where Karin and Sakura, two women who have feelings for him risked their lives in this drama = also amounted to nothing.
This generation of women had one objective = made for reproduction.
The daughter’s struggles as she went to search his father to clear up things = also amounted to nothing.
Don’t you get it…dammit.”
"What do you even mean by addicted?
Ugh, the author himself doesn’t get his own character, doesn’t even know what the fuck he’s talking about. He’s destroying his own creation and saying nothing positive about his characters
If he can’t explain this character’s love, it’s more like he himself has a fucking problem. This is the first time I see it face to face someone saying this type of style of narration. Or does the author himself doesn’t even know how to narrate himself lololol”
“Liking Hinata = Liking Hinata’s boobs, lolol the author just revealed himself.
The reason why Hinata wanted to be stronger is because her crush screwed over her head. Even with Neji’s death that was supposed to be a wake up call seeing his corpse. But then she felt Naruto’s hand what a thirsty bitch lolololololol–”
“I suddenly realized. That Sakura’s Gaiden cover stinks of annoyance because she has nothing but addiction to Sasuke. Seriously, hurry the fuck up and seek an asylum.”
“Her expression looks so gloomy in Gaiden…
Right now Sakura looks so much older in comparison to other women her age, probably her addiction aged her much. This author is so weird.”
Ok, that’s the rough selection I did. Man, ‘m tired.
Awww Thank you! I try not too, but it can be very hard to do. Y.Y I need to go Hulk mode completely. Thank you for enjoying the comic!
The fact that the fandom is fighting within itself is sad enough. *Sigh* There isn't much to do about it. Can't wait for the next chapter of yours.
It's not the fact that it did not end the way someone wished it to end, but that it was like utter devastation and complete destruction of something that had been building for so many years. For me, the ending is what makes a story whole. If the ending is bad, the rest of the story loses some of it's appeal because usually you get some kind of closure from the ending.
Still, I will not abandon the fandom and I am still inspired to write and read Naruto fanfiction, but I detach myself from the actual story and I also feel my passion for the whole manga fading, even if I don't want it.
