Ice sculpting - Team Arlion

Zar’roc and Kaza stared at the massive block of ice that they had been presented with. “So...we make a sculpture out of this then?” Zar’roc asked.

“That seems to be what they want us to to.” Kaza said quietly. “I’ve...never done it before. Carving things, I mean. Have you?”

“I have not, but they did say this was...tougher ice, so we don’t have to be too careful, right?” Zar’roc mused. “Maybe we should make something...simple though.”

“Simple?” Kaza asked. “That sounds good, but what did you have in mind?”

“Well, I didn’t really have anything in mind honestly.” Zar’roc admitted with a small chuckle. “What do you think would be simple?”

“How about...an egg?” Kaza suggested. “The tricky part would just be making it smooth.”

“Worth a shot.” Zar’roc nodded. “We’ll get the general shape and do detail work from there.” Zar’roc placed his head sickle against the ice and started to scrape away at the block. Kaza got an ice pick and a hammer and started chipping away at the corners. It was a long, and rather slow process, but they finally got it down to a rather...egg-ish shape. It had a lot of bumps, ridges, and dents in it though. “Well...first step down. Now we just smooth it out.”

“I...guess I’ll leave that to you then.” Kaza said and put his pick and hammer down. “I don’t think these will be much good.”

“No no Kaza, you can still help out plenty.” Zar’roc said warmly. “You have an eye for detail. I’ll need you to give this a good look, and tell me where to shave off ice, and how much.”

“Me? Well…” Kaza stared at the rounded block of ice intently. “...Alright. Let me just…” Kaza stepped forward and lightly tapped it, feeling it over with the tips of his fingers. “Okay….this should be okay. Alright, here.” Kaza said and pointed to a lump in the ice. “We start here.”

“You got it.” Zar’roc said and lowered his sickle to the ice and started scraping away. It took a good while...and it wasn’t perfect by a long shot, but at least it was perfectly identifiable as an egg, and for the two of them, that was good enough.

“Do you want to do it again?” Zar’roc asked.

“I’d rather go inside...my hands are cold.” Kaza said.
