A few years late, but I am still kind of in love with the work you did here. And on the topic of the Velaryon boys and their appearance? In Princess and the Queen there is no mention made of their appearance. That wasn't until The Rogue Prince. Which came out several months after your picture.:)

Still, I know you probably don't look at your old pictures' comments sections, but I'd like you to know that this picture did go a fair way in how I characterize these well... characters!:)

Thanks! :)
I really had little to go on, all I had were ASOIAF wiki articles with just sort of hints at the time, and some help from the lovely commissioner, who had read the book and had some extra info, or his own ideas on what the characters look like.

I'm glad, you like the way it turned out :)

Heh, as I said. At the time you did the picture, nothing violated existing canon because there was literally no descriptions of the Velaryon boys of Rhaenyra's. I also prefer the way you had them, as opposed to how GRRM had them described in canon. So, well, kudos!:)
Well, you're probably one of my favorite artists. Though that could be bias due to how much I like the stuff I've commissioned.

And on that note, whenever you're available again I have some cash set aside to get some new pics. Fire and Blood came out and it's got me wanting more stuff.:D

I love your work but I'm going to nerd out here for a second. Jacaerys, Lucerys, and Joffrey Velaryon didn't have the typical Targaryen looks. They all had reddish brown hair and brown eyes (pug noses as well and looked suspicously like Ser Harwin Strong, who as Queen/Princess Rhaenyra's champion and likely lover makes a strong case for himself to be included among the blacks).

On the side of the greens, Prince Aemond should have a scar be missing his right eye do to a childhood fight with Lucerys (he but a Saphire in the empty eye socket)
Great job though, I really like your style

Thank you!

I didn't read the book at the time I drew this picture, and whatever info I could gather from the net was vague at best.

You going to to a portrait of Cregan Stark? :D

Looks good, but the BASTARDS should have black hair and pug nose, that really bothers me, as it is one of the main reasons for the dance.

That and Daemon couldn't keep it in his pants or scabbard for that matter or else Rhaenyra would've gained more allies

Again: i did not read this and it wasn't mentioned in the info given to me.

Thanks for the compliment though :)

Oh, so you did this on comission and you never read or heard of the Dance, its ok still a nice image, you help give shape to the story.

Just pointed it out cuse out of your beautifull work it is a major point of the plot.

Amazing job, but Rhaenyra's Velaryon sons shouldn't have Valyrian features, which was the reason why they were mocked as "Strongs"

Yeah, you're right. But this aside, the pic is amazing ;)

Two things to nitpick, but otherwise perfect: AWOIAF has totally different conceptions of both Rhaenyra and her 'Velaryon' children, pretty much guaranteed to be bastards of Harwin Strong's lineage. Joff Lucerys and Jacaerys are all pug-nosed brown-haired boys, not unlike Larys on the Greens. I suppose they could've dyed their hair, though :P

I don't think Rhaenyra was intended to be so monstrous/feral looking. The image of her near her death in the book is one of composed regality - a beautiful woman who'd gone a bit round around her edges. That said - Corlys/Rhaenys? Awesome. Daemon looks fantastic. I don't know if the bastards besides Addam Velaryon are actually supposed to be black-haired, but I suppose a dragonseed is notable for a reason.

Helaena's kids? :'(

So cute, so dead. You nailed Aegon II - All the jovial Santa-style appearance of Viserys I ruined by a pornstache and a scowl.

I'd like to think that the Blacks had the right- I mean, Criston Cole slit the Master of Coin's throat for disagreement - but Rhaenyra had a lot of wroth going on: and Daemon was a rat - but so was Alerie.

This is absolutely amazing and one of my favourite pieces of ASOIAF art, ever, for sure.

Reading the Princess and the Queen is so, so much easier with this picture. It really helps you keep the characters distinct in your mind. I love your interpretations of character appearances.

Are you planning to do one for the "prequel" The Rogue Prince? A lot of the same characters, although younger. It would be so helpful if you would!
