Color Theory by Energyzed Color Theory by Energyzed
Thanks to *purplekecleon for her genius Color Theory tutorial :D And if there were EVER a such thing as an Artist "high"...I think I found it! rofl

So, I definitely suck with color use, so I went and downloaded the two sample images that were provided by the aforementioned artist (Cyndaquil & Chikorita, and Jirachi), but as you can see I only used one image for practice. I had loads of fun doing this.

The first two rows I actually tried to use the "correct" colors for the pokemon, and tried a monochromatic scheme. Picture 5 I had originally planned for super-unrealistic lighting but I kinda thought the flame on Cyndaquil's back looked like red fire and thick blue smoke, so I added clouds to the top of the picture xD picture 6 reminds me of the old school Gameboy days where everything was a dull monochromatic color scheme.

-sigh- The third row...I just got carried away with coloring and tried to get the most ridiculous color combos with the supplied pallet...ever. Did I succeed??? Haha, I encourage playing around with the above image and the color pallets that PurpKecloen gives. here's a link to the non-flash tut: [link]

Yeah I normally do look for brushes on here, but I'm convinced it's my settings that I use, lol.

And yes, I used the default soft brush :P did the effect of it work?

I mean does the effect of the soft brush work in the way I used it? does it accomplish what i was aiming for?

Yeah, for a LOOOOOONNNNNNGGGG time I couldnt get a solid streak whenever I used my brushes, and then (tonight) I realized that I had "spacing" set to 4% so anytime I had a change in pen pressure you could see circles instead of gradient in brush strokes >_>

yea I hate that and yea, it looks nice =) to get a softer look you can set the opacity at 40% and flow at 20%, that's what I'm using right now =) of course play around with it and find whats works for you
