It is difficult to be anything but complimentary with this magnificent image. The composition is very strong- reminds me of a sea shell- this is greatly enhanced by the variety of textures and the very jurisprudent balance between the black ironwork railing and the softer grey to white of the walls and windows.

What is so interesting is how you've been able to transform marble, glass, and iron into something so very organic that it really feels alive- again back to this association with a sea shell. Wonderful, gentle tension between the three dimensional feel, flowing down through the staircase, and the lyric two dimensional flow carried by the black.

The hint at a cave like opening to the right under the staircase is fabulous- dark, almost menacing space, leading to where in this otherwise poetic and lyric silence?

I was going to leave a comment, then read this crit, and felt it had all been said really well. Insightful analysis of a great image. My thought tended towards oysters a bit, as well.

Thanks a lot for your critique! Your sea shell association is quite appropriate, I did not think of it. My idea was an egg with an embryo in the centre. Now I also see it as a black pearl :)
