Today the ReBoot Compilation Poster got a DD!

ReBoot - Compilation Poster by EmpressHelenia

Many thanks to :iconcontraltissimo: and :iconlyricanna: for helping it get featured.
What a neat surprise! You guys are awesome.

And to everyone who watched me today, hello! I don't post too much on here anymore (school and work have made fan art production a little harder...) but still feel free to keep an eye on this space. You never know what goodies might pop up. Thank you all for stopping by. I really appreciate it. :)

The first batch is done!

Journal Entry: Wed Feb 29, 2012, 5:58 PM
So the February "ReBoot Month" is done!

I eventually want to do another batch of characters, but I'll be taking about three weeks off to work on my senior thesis project for school (I have to… I'm an animator… and it's times like these I wish I was just a photographer…). But I'll be starting up again in the middle of March.

I already have a list worked out, but anyone is free to comment with any specific character they really want to see, and I'll try and work them in. Some of the ones you suggested are already in there, and I'll be doing variations of some characters I've already drawn (game costumes, etc), so those suggestions are welcome too.

At the end, I'll be putting all of these into a poster. Knowing how Rainmaker operates, it's probably not anything I'll be able to sell, nor do I really want to test their patience. :( But it'll still be neat to see them all together in one place. But if any of you have access to a large-scale plotter where you are (like I do!) or a Kinkos or something, you're welcome to print it out for yourself when it's done. No charge. I don't need the money. :)

Thank you all for sticking with me! It's been a blast and it'll definitely continue for a little while longer. Until then… the Empress is out!

ReBoot Forever!

Journal Entry: Sun Aug 14, 2011, 11:42 AM
After the first shipment got eaten by Canadian customs officers,

my copies of the new ReBoot art book have arrived!

Four of my prints are in there. FOUR! Right at the back!

And they came out beautifully. I'm such a proud mama

Keep an eye out for the book at conventions, but you can also order it online here:…

Hooray December!

Journal Entry: Fri Dec 3, 2010, 2:12 PM
Hey gang,

Happy end-of-2010! I've had a pretty good time this year, lots of fun stuff going on. Here comes 2011! Now I just need to get through these exams without having a conniption. Here I go...

And to all of you who entered the ReBoot fanart contest, good luck to you! I just couldn't bring myself to enter, and you probably know why by now. I know a couple of people who entered that I think should win for sure, so I'm rooting for you! And if you don't win... well, that'll only add to my anger. LOL wonderful.

Also, thanks to everyone who commented or faved my Mucha Girls picture. It just went over 500 favorites... I never ever thought that would happen. I know it's pittance compared to most of the work out here on dA, but I think it's awesome! I'm honored that I could make 5, much less 500 people happy, even for a couple of seconds. :)

Hugs to all of you!

E.H.

Journal Entry: Wed May 19, 2010, 1:50 PM
I just wanted to get that year-old journal off my front page, so I wrote a new one. I don't have anything super special awesome to report. Please go about your business. :dummy:

Um... I guess... here are some things that have happened since my last... journal thingy?

-did moar art
-learned to sew
-ran away to Canada, ran back home
-changed my major, got much happier
-made my first animation
-totally forgot to do these other mini sketches for people that requested them last year

I really need to clean up this page a lot and add some new stuff in the coming weeks. And I need to finally do those sketches you guys requested, I'm sorry I've been such a butt and forgot all this time. Life got in the way. Wilst thou forgive moi?

I do take commissions from time to time. Send me a note if you're interested, and I'll see what I can do! :)

Forsooth! I hath returned! :ninja:

So, I've really gotten back into drawing in my sketchbook lately. I'm trying to carry it with me everywhere, and sketch a little something every day, just to a) keep practicing and b) avert any stress-related insanity in my future. But there's only so much stuff I can draw from my collection of characters and other stuff, and it gets a little repetitive for me, so I was thinking about opening up a few slots for free sketches, if people want them. I love drawing stuff for friends. :D

So, anyone interested? As expected, I won't draw anything I'm not comfortable with. If the idea creeps me out, it's a no-go, and I'll let you know that I won't do it. But even then, I'm pretty flexible. Let me know if you want something! I'll do my best. :aww:

I'll open up five slots for starters.

1. :iconstarbat: : Lexicon (complete)

2. :iconimpaled-teddy-bear: : :iconlongcatarmplz::iconlongcatheadplz: as a scarf (complete)

3. :iconkirbyhead: : TBA

4. :iconmanifestedmachine: : Teiza (complete)

5. :iconmiyukitty: : Montblanc (0% complete)

And, happy Spring! (finally) :rose:

Random update because I be mucho bored. ¡Olé!

I'm so excited for the Academy Awards! :w00t: Heath's definitely a major factor this year (can you imagine the worldwide scream if he doesn't win? I hate to imagine such an awful noise...) but I really want to watch so I can root for Slumdog Millionaire. What a fun movie. And AR Rahman definitely deserves his Oscars for the score and songs. I can't stop listening to his soundtrack. Check it out if you haven't. Highly recommended if you like awesome beats!

Other than that, I've had back-to-back colds. It's very windy here. I've witnessed many more squirrel fights and ordered many more takeout pancakes. Still working on my way-too-complicated-to-let-me-stay-sane drawings. They go so, SO slowly. I hate fast drawings. I keep going back to them and changing things... School's going fine. Scraped by my first two midterms. That seems to be what college is all about: scraping by. High school was all about careful planning and concentration. Now it's just like, "Okay, instead of calculating the answer to this equation, I'm going to calculate the EXACT amount of time I can spend napping today before I have to work. And, unlike the equation, I will get that answer correct. Lulz lulz."

So, how's your life been? :giggle: Hope all's well with you guys. Oh, and happy belated Valentine's Day!

Azarian-Rurouni's kiriban: 0% done

What an amazing convention! I had no idea so many people would be there that I'd want to see. Let's see, who did I catch a glimpse of...

First, :iconkris-wilson: of Cyanide and Happiness. We looked so hard for the booth and finally found it and squee-d. He drew doodles for me and both of my friends, all of them involving profane food (don't ask). Them and their top hats. XD Really nice guys!

Second, Lar Desouza. I saw the Looking For Group banner over a booth and said, "No... it can't be... really? WOAH. Small world." Got a Richard figurine to show I'd been there. Oh, and :iconnegaduck9:, if you ever read this, he says hi. :D

Third, got a copy of Girl Genius signed by Phil Foglio. Awesome.

Fourth, Rachael Lillis and Veronica Taylor in a voice acting panel. I seriously owed it to my ten-year-old self. I was the biggest Pokémon nerd back then and Jessie was always my favorite. I was contractually obligated!

Fifth, Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) from afar, as well as Bruce Timm. They were signing autographs. The line for Bruce Timm was wicked long...

Sixth, the same chalk artist from Otakon, this time doing a Watchmen piece. Very cool.

And we got a ton of swag and action figures and posters and books and three of us slept in the same bed and we tried on corsets and ate churros and... and... it was all-around awesome! Can't wait til next year.

Okay, I know it's kinda last minute for a 4000 pageview kiriban, but I really want to do one! And 5000 pageviews will probably be another two-three months away. So, anyone who comes across my page around then, take a screencap and show it to me. Whoever's closest... blah blah blah, you know the rules. ;) And I'll draw whatever you want me to! (outside of anything pr0n-ish, of course)

Aside from that, Coraline's coming out! I've been following it for about half a year and I'm really excited to see it this weekend. IN EYEPOPPING 3D. It's come so soon already. And parts of it actually look scary. Go see it!

Finally, I'm going to be at New York Comic Con with :iconmanifestedmachine: and :iconimpaled-teddy-bear:, along with several other awesome people. Gonna be tons o' fun. And my first stay overnight in a bargain hotel room. I can't wait.

1. Post these rules
2. Each person tagged must post 8 random facts about themselves
3. Tags should write a journal/ blog of these facts
4. At the end of the post 8 more persons are tagged and named
5. Go to their page and leave a comment telling them they're tagged

My Facts:

1. I can't feel the lower half of my face. Well, a bit, but not very well. I got upper and lower jaw surgery two and a half years ago and the feeling never really came back. It's hard for me to smile besides when I laugh. Then I can smile all over the place.

2. I have a 13-year-old fish named Possum. He's an albino Buenos-Aires— you can see his guts through his skin. It's freaky. We called him Possum because he used to play dead, but would always come back to life. He's lasted the longest of all my fish. I'm convinced he's some kind of immortal deity. We'll give him a proper burial when (or if) he dies.

3. I sleep with an electric blanket on in summertime. Yes. Yes I do.

4. I have keratosis pilaris. It's a pretty common skin disorder, with lots of pimply things on your arms and legs and chest that don't ever go away. When I first asked my dermatologist about them, he was like, "Oh, THOSE. Ha, well, sorry kid, I can't help you. Ha ha. No t-shirts for yoooou!" Or at least it seemed like it. There's no cure (dammit) and I've got all these scars from messing with them. 'Tis sad.

5. I have slept with my favorite stuffed animal almost since birth. He's a bunny, who wears a skirt and a bow (I had no concept of gender back then, what can I say...) named Bunny (I was original too, yes?). His ears are mangled and his head is ripping open, but I still love him and squish him.

6. I have eaten a cricket and ten mealworms for extra credit in AP Biology. We all did. We were desperate for points. And, apparently, protein.

7. I'm an only child. I grew up around seasoned grownups and am overly-mature for my age. It hath sucked for quite a while. Kids do not like kids who act like adults. But it definitely pays off in the end. Just not at the beginning... or the middle...

8. I am addicted to Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies. They are responsible for me gaining about 5 pounds this spring. Yaargh, but they're so goood.

Halloween is here.
My early decision college application is out.
I had five AP classes for first quarter and got straight A's all around.
And I just had Wensleydale cheese and a butter croissant.

In short, life is good. :w00t:

I wish I could have dressed up today, but our school doesn't let us do that... at least not on a chapel day. One girl came in a Winnie the Pooh outfit, so I wonder how she fared with the authorities. Brave soul *bows head*. They might let us dress up on Friday, and if they do, I'm wearing my Sakura Haruno wig and headband. Yes I am. I promise. It's too cute to resist, and actually withstood my scissor assault on it, unlike my other wig. :noes: *scary screeching violin*

I hear in one month or less about my early decision. The prayers begin now.

I'm an adult! Yay! (does backflip) Well, it's not like I haven't been an adult forever... I've never been much like other people my age. Always been super-scarily mature and whatnot. Yes. I enjoy my parents more than anyone. Home is more fun than school. So there won't be too much difference, yes? Good! :w00t!:

My parents got me a pair of earrings I had been eyeing but would never dare ask for— diamond studded stars! :wow: —and a chain necklace with 6 small diamonds on it. In case you're wondering, yes, my family is a bit... well, loaded. ^^; But I never ask for anything for my birthday— I'm already as happy as I can be. Thanks so much, Mom and Dad! For keeping me alive until adulthood, you get serious kudos.

Oh. And 2 giftcards to California Pizza Kitchen. SWEET. Hoisin Dumplings, come to me!
