Watercolor Sketch for lovexparody by emperpep Watercolor Sketch for lovexparody by emperpep
Tried putting traditional sketch photo out of scrap gallery for the first time, I dont quite have enough inspiration to make full-color painting atm, hope you enjoy my traditional sketch, they are also nice and pretty in my opinion

Original character belongs to :iconlovexparody:

I used 0.3mm Kurutoga pencil to draw outlines,  quite sharp and clean compared to 0.5mm lead

if you have any question, feel free to ask.

Really like the character and the way you use watercolors. Totally flawless!

May I ask what do you think about Holbein Watercolors? I see them often in the pictures you take so I was wondering if it's a good brand or maybe it's better to stick with another one, like Daniel Smith or Winsor&Newton. Thank you!

I feel like Holbein is less pigmented but this brand has so many nice and important colors for my watercolor painting, it also doesnt flow very well compared to other brand because there is no oxgall but that is not a big deal.

I think if I combine Holbein along with other brands the result usually turned out to be quite satisfying compared to using only Holbein or other brands alone, each brand has its own advantage and usefulness.

Your traditional sketches, and paintings, and anything of the sort are so pretty there are no words, and always have been. You've been an inspiration for many years.

Thank you soo much. I appreciate it :). Right now I am working with acrylics and I don't understand how to contrast or shade anything really. I have seen some videos but the quality on them were pretty bad or the drawing wasn't visible. Making it hard to see what they were trying to explain. If you can help me out that would be great. :)

it would be nice to see some of your acrylic art first, try experimenting with it, make sure not to let acrylic dry on your paintbrush, and wash your brush thoroughly after use.

Oh ok thank you for the tip about the brushes. I will make some paintings. I'm actually creating one now, but I'm still drawing it out carefully cause I want it to be perfect in a way. I hope many will enjoy it once I put it on here.

Yes they are

It is holbein, but my recommendation are daniel smith and winsor&newton

It is 100g smooth surface sketchbook paper [not really recommended for watercolor though]

It depends on how hard and how often you practice, If you live in artistic supportive condition such as artist workplace/art community/art college , and practice like hell everyday, just 1 week or 1 month is enough to see improvement, btw I've been playing with watercolor for around 8 years, and have been drawing since 2004

and recommended colors depends on your favorite, someone like to paint colorful rainbow picture, some like to paint cool-looking picture, some like to paint warm picture, some like to paint dark-looking picture
what is your favorite btw?

and this article tells about basic colors that watercolorist should have
