Rubeosaurus ovatus by EmperorDinobot Rubeosaurus ovatus by EmperorDinobot
Well, this is the first true ceratopian I have drawn and posted since that ghastly grotesque of an Albertaceratops I had here circa 2006. I don't draw ceratopians very often. I like them, but I have always had difficulty drawing them. Rubeosaurus was very similar to Styracosaurus and Einiosaurus, but it had a very thick nose horn, and the topmost horns on the back of its frill were angled pointing to each other as opposed to the V configuration Einiosaurus, Achelosaurus and others have. It is known from partial skull remains, and was known as Styracosaurus ovatus for a long time. As a matter of fact, some consider it to be Styracosaurus=Centrosaurus. I honestly don't know where I'd put this animal.

Comments b4 favorite! :eager:

EDIT: Dilong paradoxus made me realize this animal seemed like he was floating and not very heavy. I also hated its long tail. I cut off a bit of the tail and changed the feet. NOW I am pleased with it. But not all that happy anyways. Anywho...

I'd hate to be on the business end of that nose horn. And I have to agree with you, ceratopsians are crazy-difficult to draw D:

Nice, detail and stuff is awesome. The legs look a bit floaty, though...like it's really light.

However, you are right. I will take this into consideration. Like I previously discussed, I'm no good with ceratopians. I don't understand their locomotion very well, and they aren't as gracile and bird like as most other dinosaurs (even quadrupedals can appear gracious and birdlike, but....not these guys... they are heavy). I will draw a new ceratopian tonight, and play around with its dynamics.

Yeah, I can see why that would be a bit of a change. Other than the floaty thing you managed it pretty well.
