Argentinosaurus huinculensis by EmperorDinobot Argentinosaurus huinculensis by EmperorDinobot
When you need inspiration, go to a Museum.

I went to the Fernbank Museum yesterday.

And I saw Argentinosaurus in all its glory. I...I...I couldn't believe it...That really IS the biggest described dinosaur (Amphocoelias and Bruthakayosaurus don't count...yet)...
It was...spec...spectacular...I couldn't concentrate on the other exhibits because of the sheer awesomeness of this dinosaur's skeleton. I almost wanted to cry. No. Wait I did cry. Because...the hall was empty, there was lovely music playing, and they HAD to play "Tune of Separation" By Michiru Oshima (From Fullmetal Alchemist), and so I really did melt. It wasn't embarrassing, though. It was like watching a miracle unfold before my eyes. It's the most spectacular exhibit ever. I usually complain at museums for lack of dinosaurs, but...This particular exhibit was...just...fucking awesome...There was a flock of Pterodaustro guinzani flying above (they are sooo ugly!), and some Anhanaguera (sp?) flying too. And of course, the Giganotosaurus, which...just...looks puny next to Argentinosaurus.

And yes. I did cry. It was like seeing God.

It was sheer beauty. Sheer power.

You mention Amphocoelias here. Would you ever consider taking a guess at it what it might look like? Just for fun?

This animal is...not in the works. For now. But I bet it's gonna look like Supersaurus. It's got features similar to diplodocidae and earlier sauropods, so....IDK what it's gonna look like. It's quite a special thingy thing. This Argentinosaurus is due for an update, too.

I think it looks great. The way they depicted it on Walking With Dinosaurs though was cool. They just designed it really thick and tough looking

WWD did argentinosaurus? There was this one film whose name I forget, but yes. Thick, tough and constantly moving.

It wasn't an actual episode of WWD, but the same team of animators did that show where Nigel Marven goes back in time to be amongst dinosaurs. I think Giganotosaurus was in that episode too. And they did a whole bit with him swimming with Megalodon and all that business. Pretty cool stuff

My only criticism of argentinasaurus is that the skull is too flimsy. The titanosaurs probably had elegant faces, like antarctosaurus.

Antarctosaurus has been reinterpreted, and the jaw really is titanosaurian.

Yes. I've seen the work on that. But I completed this quite a while ago, and decided to give it a random head. He's due for a remake.

This museum is at 767 Clifton Road, N.E. Atlanta, GA 30307? I just googled some pics of what you described, and holy crap man, I was impressed with the photos alone----can't imagine actually being there.

I gott' go some time. I live in Florida which is only a day's drive away or less from there.

I'm glad that the Argentinosaurus was everything you expected it to be, i'd certainly love to see one. I can imagine how amazing it must be to behold in person; spectacular to say the least.
This drawing is great. I've also started drawing dinosaurs again recentley, so soon i'll try to upload them if I get the chance. I'd like to hear your opinion on them!

I'd love to see that. The most impressive skeleton I've ever seen was a full size cast of "Sue" at Disney World... Okay, well, the Carnotaurus cast was fairly impressive as well. I swear, somehow those things look bigger than you think when you read their measurements. Maybe it's the height, and that massively robust looking skull.

Nice details on the skin texture :D

The carnotaurus was bullshit. That dinosaur's measurements were altered to make him look like the one in the movie. As for Argentinosaurus...He's like...Wow...

Oh and thanks.

Actually, the movie was produced long after they had an attraction. As a matter of fact the idea for the movie came from that attraction, and they changed the attraction's name (which really pissed me off) to Dinosaur instead of Countdown to Extinction (which was way cooler). Then they changed the scientifically accurate iguanadon in the little movie clips on the ride to look like the horrible botching they called aladar.

I tell you, the whole affair ruffled my feathers a great deal.

The skeleton is actual size, if I'm not mistaken, 13' tall and 20' long. it's just up on a like, 4-5' high pedestal, which makes it look bigger.

Oh I see? Well, the carnotaur when I saw it looked T.rex size. It was bigger than what Carnotaurus really was.

I saw the happy Aladar when I went 8 yrs ago. It was still called Countdown To Exctinction.

I got a big rubber Tyrannosaurus.

It was f'ing awesome. I...fainted. It was lovely. Maybe 'coz I get all sentimental when I see dinosaurs. But this one was simply...the largest one. Heck, Giganotosaurus looked puny next to it.
