Q: What is EmoteADay?
A: EmoteADay is a feature group started by Waluigi-Prower in an objective to feature as many emotes from the whole timeline of dA as possible. Any and every emoticonist from the past and the present could potentially be featured here!
Q: How can I get on the list for a potential feature?
A: That's simple! All you have to do is have at least one emote in your gallery, and comment on The Master List journal, which can be found here, or send us a note and we'll get right on it.
Q: I have multiple accounts with different emotes on them. What do?
A: You can have up to three alt accounts on the Master List in this case. To those of you that would believe that that gives them an advantage of being picked, in the case of 600+ people, it would give them less than a fifth of a percent higher chance than a person with one account, so it doesn't help them out all that much.
Q: How is each daily emote chosen to be featured?
A. The process for choosing the emote to feature is almost entirely random. Every deviant on the list is assigned a random number, starting with 1 at the top and going down from there. random.org is then used to generate a random number from the list, and the deviant with that number is picked. After that, an emote is chosen from their gallery that is most likely to be a good representation for that person (I try to avoid featuring emotes that have received a Daily Deviation, however, myself or someone else may feel like suggesting a featured emote for a DD later if they choose to). That emote is then featured in a blog entry for the day, then put in the group's Favorites, and later on a monthly recap news article. I also try not to feature the same person twice within the same calendar year.
Q: OMG THAT WAS TOO LONG TO READ I WANNA BE FEATURED CHOOSE ME PLSPLSPLS
A: Sorry, the process is entirely up to luck to decide who gets chosen. Just send us your name and hope you get lucky.
Q: What's the policy on submissions to the group gallery?
A: Submissions of individual emoticons, like ones that will be featured in the journals, will be declined, due to the favorite's collections being a more accessible platform for organizing each feature. Submissions directly related to the group itself, like a stamp of some sort or an icon for the group, can be accepted into the gallery.
Q: My name's on the list to be chosen, or one of my emotes has been featured and I would like it removed from the group.
A: For any reason whatsoever, if you do not want to be featured, or if your emote has been featured and you would like it removed, just send us a note and we'll do it as soon as we can.
Q: OMGMOG THIS PERSON HAS NO EMOTES AND HE'S ON THE LIST IT'S TOTALLY RIGGED
A: Mistakes do tend to happen when one person sorts out 600+ names. If you find an error on my list, such as an alphabetical error or someone on the list with no emotes in their gallery, just send us a note and we'll promptly correct the mistake.
Q: What is the MonthlyEmoticonist?
A: The MonthlyEmoticonist is an interview series conducted here at EmoteADay, starring potentially anyone! The list of emoticonists that have volunteered to be interviewed can be found at the bottom of the Master List journal.
Q: That sounds awesome! How can I be put on the interview list?
A: All you have to do is comment on the Master List journal (or anywhere else, for that matter, we might catch it better on the Master List, though) saying you'd like to be interviewed! Granted that you're an emoticonist, we'll add you to the list! If you're chosen to be interviewed, we'll contact you ahead of time to get your preferred method of being interviewed, either through a private chatroom on the dAmn network (faster option), private Skype chatting (also fast) or through private notes (the slower, but still viable option for those that are very busy).
If this FAQ didn't answer your question, just send us a comment or note and, like with everything else, we'll get back to you ASAP.
