When I read this I immediately got the reference. Its referencing the Pokemon: Indigo League episode "Haunter vs Kadabra" when Ash meets Sabrina's father (who never refers to himself as such), and even when he shows Ash pictures of Sabrina when she was young, he never puts two and two together. Great comic, Starlight facehoofing (facepalming) was a really great touch.
