Too much of a resemblance

Journal Entry: Sun Feb 7, 2016, 7:42 PM
Lately I've been trying to create my own style of doing human/anthro versions of MLP characters. Including OCs. But for some reason, they have a strong and uncanny resemblance to :iconthebrokencog: and :iconaskbubblelee: style.
Therefore I'm just gonna stick to the original EQG style that I've been doing. The only difference is that they'll have NATURAL skin tones.

I'm thinking of taking down these pics before being called a thief/fraud.

I can understand having similar characters can irritate somebody but similar styles shouldn't.  If that was the case then 99% of anime would need to be canceled as their styles are almost identical.  When you are inspired by somebody and learn from them there is bound to be a resemblance.  With all the artists out there it's easy to spot some sort of similarity among them.

Well, I'm not sure if the resemblance is that much too worry about because when I see good art I try to draw in that style >.<

You can only be you. and as long as your not blantently copying others art work. Then using others art work to inspire you is ok. Resimbling others is going to happen. Just be you. And enjoy yourself ^^

-shy hug- I don't think there's anything wrong with someone else's work inspiring your own.. As long as you put some sort of disclaimer about it, of course. :huggle:

Hmmm, well, there is indeed a way styles can be similar to one another, in all honesty, mine was heavily influenced by Danmakuman's style at first, then I really did what I had to to make my own thing out of that, and all of this becuase he taught me how to draw humans  so that's why my style was similar to his. Anyways, about your situation, there is nothing wrong trying something, there will always be a time when we feel unsure about things but it is better to keep going. If my style has influenced you there is nothing wrong about it, or if they are similar at first, just also try to make your own changes with time, I believe in you alright? n_n

That's actually a really interesting story man.
And really? Thanks! Cause to tell you the truth, I am inspired by your art style
when it comes to humans. ^^ I just need to figure out what changes to make.

Don't think it to much my friend, just keep doing what you do and then when you feel sure about something, start experimenting, I keep doing that and trust me, things, when done properly, just get better. ;D

I apologize if my comment sounded a bit rude. I just wasn't sure if whether or not you had asked Bubble Lee for her permission to use her artwork for your picture since it appears to be traced from her picture.

Ah yes, I agree man, tracing can't be nice, although I think referencing isn't really bad. I am quite against tracing, I think it isn't what people should do. Anyways, it is nice to know others look out for artists, sometimes they don't know about tracing issues and stuff like that. ;p

It's OK, but I do admit how it looks a lot like the pic you showed me. I want to keep the
deviation up so I'm gonna talk to BubbleLee and see if I can keep it instead of deleting it.
