how many times can a heart get torn apart while it’s trying to guard what it started before it can form into something important.
I kept it protected, deflected affection, rejected connection so I wouldn’t get wrecked when it ended.
I pushed him away with a practiced detachment a habit of snapping attachments the second they started to matter.
I said it outright that I fracture what I capture that after I answer with love I turn savage and shatter.
And still it went deeper than anything buried or carried before, a force that ignored every wall I had built to avoid it.

When you said you it, it compelled something real into place, something stable that made every past mistake start to feel erasable.
