Two days passed by. Goku's fever had quelled, his skin tepid and no longer coated with clammy layers of sickly perspiration. The signs were promising and it was clear that Earth's hero had just about reached the end of his rocky road to recovery. Chi-Chi grasped his calloused hand firmly, planting a chaste kiss on the base of his palm and gently brushing her soft lips against the steadily beating thrum of his radial artery, eliciting a gratifying note of pleasure from the sturdy, slumbering Saiyan.

Everyone's jaw dropped at the unexpected scene that was happening before them. Prince Vegeta had appeared to welcome Lord Frieza when he has denied multiple times that he will not grace them with his presence today.
Last night, after sending Nappa to relay his message to his father's attendant, Prince Vegeta summoned Kakarot and Raditz before him.
"Prepare yourselves, both of you." He told them. "For you shall watch me make a scene tomorrow on Frieza's arrival."
His command made his two generals gape in shock and disbelief.
"What?"
"Don't tell us you are planning to provoke the Emperor!" Raditz gasped.
"Please listen, your highness. If you do that, it would place not only you in great danger but also all of your people." Kakarot said. "Please do not forget how truly fearsome the Galactic Emperor is."
Of course, Vegeta knew exactly what he would be up to but he didn't care about it. He smirked at his best friends. "That is exactly what I want to happen."

CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE: BELLY OF THE UNDERWORLD

Vegeta ran around the track, his limbs pumped furiously, his breathing smooth; he almost felt like he was flying. Ever since he was a young boy on Vegetasai, he had loved to run and feel the wind on his face, feel his muscles move, feel the strength in his body. Now, on FP-79, there was no sun, no wind ... except what he created through his own efforts. Still he ran, and for a while allowed his mind to go to autopilot and dream. He exercised on a daily basis: working out in the weight rooms, fighting Saibamen in the training areas, practicing his forms, or working with Zarbon and Dodoria. He always felt better when he moved ... and now, he could use it to scrub the ever present anxiety from his mind for a little while.

Burning HatredVegeta lay face down in the gravity room. It was set to 300 times Earth's gravity and he had been in the middle of push-ups when his arms gave out. He caught his breath, his lungs burning from the sheer weight of gravity threatening to collapse them the way it had his body.
He grit is teeth and tried to force his body off the ground lest it be crushed any further by the weight of his burning hatred for the one being that mocked his existence. Kakarot. No matter what he did or how much punishment he put himself through, he was still only second best. Him, a Prince of a mighty and prideful race, was second to a low class Warrior with brain damage.
How had his life become such a fucking joke? Oh, that's right, when he was given to the tyrant that used to torture him at every given chance in an attempt to break him. "FUCK THIS! FUCK ALL OF THIS!!" he roared as he forced himself up.
"I will NOT be second best to a clown! I will not be some blue bitch's pet! I will never be one of THEM!" he
