So I am at a point my 6-7 year old core duo laptop with 8gb of ram shows its age with large pictures or brushes in Photoshop (cs 2017). That and the battery is going south. So I've been considering a new laptop and I have a few questions.
First, what are some of the favorites, and what size? I've been looking hard at the Oryx pro from System76, in 15.6". But I'm somewhat open, I have had good luck with hp.
Second, one of the main reasons I'm looking at the Oryx is the hi-dpi screen and the beastly amount of ram available as some future proofing. Is it worth it, or is 32gb okay? What about the 4k screen? There is some kind of hang up with shipping, so I've been considering the Gazelle 15 and 17. It is significantly less expensive, and likely has better battery life, but also has aslightly lesser graphics board.
To give a little context, I'm a graphic design major, so it's run of the mill Adobe cs (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign), along with Gimp/Krita/MyPaint etc. No hardcore gaming for the most part.
Thanks all for the input.
