Dream Hallway by emera Dream Hallway by emera
Attempted, while hungry (always a downfall for me), to sketch the New York Public Library's breathtaking main corridor. Hardly accurate, but hopefully at least evocative. I really really wanted to capture the amazing shadows smeared on all the golden-white stone surfaces, which wet-in-wet watercolor seems like the perfect medium for... will have to give it another go sometime.

Watercolor, pencil, tiny bit of gouache. 45 min, plus a couple touch-ups later.

It's not all that bad, there's a nice sense of depth with your lines. Very good perspective. I also like the reflections of lighting from above. Good job! :)

Thank you! I confess I'm not so great at even 1-point perspective, so pulling this off did feel like a minor triumph. : ) And the reflections were perhaps /the/ atmospheric highlight.
