These are the doodles I made while travelling in Europe.
Top half is mostly portraits, and the rest is just doodles.
What? Me, drawing scenery of famous places I visit? Pfah.
I took some pictures of my sketches with a phone camera, but looked forward to coming home to use the scanner. However, I found that the scans were in fact WORSE than the camera pictures. I guess the pencil marks reflected the scanner light or something. So, in the end I propped up Dad's fancy digital camera to keep it steady and took these pictures using light from another angle.
Still looks way better in my sketchbook. *grumbles*
I need to learn some better noise-removal techniques...
The guys at the top are security guards at a club in Barcelona. They were pretty friendly after a while.
Unfortunately, after a while the management decided that coming in there all the time for free (there were free passes available outside six nights a week) but actually ordering zero amount of drinks was a no-no. So, no more free passes for the weird artist guy.
Which is entirely reasonable, and they let me slide by for about two months, so yeah, they were very
reasonable. in fact - but if they had held off for just two days more (until I developed a cold and spent the rest of my stay in the hostel, sniffling) I would be actually recommending the club by name.
The auto-level option left each scan with it's own color, and in the end, I let them keep it.
A couple of the better sketches - the ones I tended to show to serve as artist-y credentials and make girls go all 'ooh' and 'aah' - have been put aside for future use; they're for some more Nobilis-related stuff, see.
