Description

Testing out my Galaxy Note 2 by drawing Jasper Irinka from Chuubo's Marvelous Wish-Granting Engine, a pretty cool RPG.

------------

Jasper is the Child of the Sun, and a fifteen-year-old goddess of Hope and The Sun. She has been cast down from her heavenly realm, an orphan since the Sun died a few years ago. (We got a replacement sun. It's Jasper, though she doesn't yet know it.) Still unfamiliar with our world, she does her best to fit in here.

An awesome thing about Jasper is how her powers work.
She's a different type of god-like being than Chuubo, whose Marvelous Wish-Granting Engine I posted a picture of the other day, so their powers work in slightly different ways. To get a new ability, Jasper needs to adds some physical aspect to herself. It can be a tattoo, some patches on her clothes, an accessory of some sort - but mostly, it's extra limbs - arms, antennas, wings, tentacles and so forth. This makes her pretty interesting to draw.

------------

The background image? That's her Kaiju form, kind of what she 'really' looks like. Limbs, maws and fusion spheres forming a tangle of indefinable size, able to engulf cities or fit in a thimble as the mood strikes. Jasper can shift into this form, though that's not always very useful.

...Chuubo's is kind of high power-level for a game mostly about kids hanging out with their friends and learning important lessons while growing up. Still lower-level than Nobilis, though.

------------

Most images I've seen of Jasper has her in some sort of India-inspired goddess-worthy outfit. I thought I'd test to see what she looks like in more normal clothes. I delude myself that I have some basic fashion sense, so I like it when I occasionally have the opportunity to try it out.

Still considering whether to make some changes. Maybe bigger pupils?

---------------

The Galaxy Note 2 is decent, I guess. (There are things I'd like to have, like a way to modify the pressure curve.)
I've yet to find a really good editor program, though. SketchBook Mobile is the best yet, and I can barely stand it. It doesn't even have a Smudge Tool! Or smooth/sharpen! I can't even lasso-select something and move it around! There's no Auto-save, and if I leave the program in the background, it'll discard the current picture after a while! My tool settings reset themselves every time I start it!
Ugh, so many things to complain about. Suffice to say, it won't replace my Cintiq.
