The Second Try: Pokemon Pals

Well, this is it. My ONE THOUSANDTH DEVIATION. Truth be told, I had no idea what I was going to do for this because I didn’t realize up until a few days ago that I’d posted that many artworks on this site. I did figure I ought to mark it with something significant, so I decided to do a tribute to one of my favorite fanfic writers, :iconJimmyWolk:, whose delightful “The Second Try” was one of the first Neon Genesis Evangelion fanfics I became well-acquainted with.

This particular picture is an AU of his versions of the Evangelion characters (Shinji, Asuka, and their OC child from the future Aki) as Pokémon Trainers. It has nothing to do with my old “Neon Genesis EvangeleMon” fanfic, I just had fun imagining what Pokémon they would have. So here we see Shinji and his Chesnaught challenging Aki and her Togepi to a “practice” battle, while Asuka relaxes in the background with her Incineroar. The Gholdengo overhead doesn’t belong to them—it’s there because it’s the 1000th Pokémon, so there was no way I couldn’t work it in somehow.
