Bah, tbh I thought 'meh' but I was also very confused and kinda surprised, so a mix of feelings. Part of me wanna think that Inaho is somehow alive (coz, c'mon, really?) especially after reading that there'll be a second season. Slaine has been a big dissapointment tbh, I thought he was gonna be a more useful chara but he was a mess in many ways and apart when he stole the flying thing and helped Inaho he did basically nothing (but pushed around by many martians). I liked him at first but now I kinda wish he was the one on the floor >< Maybe he should have just picked a side and sticked with it. I bet the second season will be around him, being half terran/ half martian having the aldnoah drive as royal family does and shit like that.

This ending was pretty cool and shocking. I haven't anticipated that. I can't wait for the second season.

I think all of them are alive but the princess for sure. I think Slaine took the princess with him. They will be young adults when we meet them again. The princess won't know about Inaho, that will be Slaine's secret. If Inaho somehow survived then he will be looking for the princess who will be with Slaine. Or something like that. But we will see. :)

I didn't understand the Heaven's Fall part of the story. What exactly happanned there? Why has Saazbaum wanted to start a war against Earth when actually his love was killed by the martians? (Or the royal family.)

Spoilers below:

What I thought would happen:
Slaine: Hime-sama! NOOOOOO! How dare you! *shoots Saezbum*
Inaho: Wait... so y-you were actually helping Seylum?
Slaine: You're injured! You need medical help!
Inaho: No! Help Seylum first!
Slaine: But...
Inaho: Go! Don't worry about me, this is nothing...
A moment of silence...
Slaine: Ok... but I'll definitely help you after!
Inaho: *smiles at Slaine's bacK*

What actually happened:
Slaine: Hime-sama! NOOOOOO! How dare you! *shoots Saezbum*
Inaho: S-Seylum-san...
Slaine: Don't touch her...
Inaho: *looks back at Slaine and whips out gun*
BAM
Inaho dead

Me: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Wow. It made me sad, but somehow I also loved it.
It was a heart-touching end. Somehow...
Nevertheless how cheerful a character is... he (or she) can always end in a pool of blood. That's war. And that's scary as hell.

I haven't seen an anime that kills off a "nice" character in such a brutal way (apart from animes that rely on such a vast amount of gore of course). In Aldnoah Zero it was shocking, shattering, but also some kind of "tasteful". Are there other animes like that? It hurts, but somehow I like that feeling you get when watching such a sad scene.

Thank you for recommending this anime. To be honest I do not have much time to spend on animes (even though I work at one of germany's biggest anime/manga stores xD). All animes I watch are chosen from among those you, elsevilla, recommend every few months. Thanks!

I liked it and at the same time, didn't know what to think. The wind was the best sound effect because you could still picture the cold snow blowing. I wonder who else lived or died. I also wonder how the humans are going to survive now without Inaho's fighting.

I suppose the wind could do that as well, I just come from Colorado, top of the mountains where when it was windy it meant cold snow so you didn't do much, like a time of waiting/hibernating. Me too, can hardly wait, thanks for recommending this to watch!

personally i dont believe it, the princess has power enough to discreetly have granted slaine power to use aldnoah drives and shes of royal blood, able to tap into this power (which i dont think has been fully explored...) i think she's a bit tougher than a couple of bullets and as for inaho as well, i doubt the production team are really going to try and run a series without 2 of the main characters. they'll both be back in january!!
BUT GODDAMNIT SLAINE YOU JEALOUS LITTLE SHIT
are we to take this that inaho has feelings for the princess then?

or he could be a bastard child? stories about royalty had lots of them and I found it funny that the martians really did keep him around

OMG i hadnt even thought of that! that would explain so many things but at the same time raise a lot of questions.
did the queen have an affair with slaine's father? (this could be viable only if the royal family is inbred *thinking of the targaryens* otherwise the queen would not have had the powers of aldnoah- and might explain why slaine was kept around the princess his whole life- if they were siblings intended to be married?)
or did the king have an affair with slaine's mother?
it makes sense that slaine is a bastard because all his life on vers was spent with the princess so now i get the feeling that he was 'brought there to be with his family'. and i always wondered why his father the scientist would bring his young son to a different planet for no apparent reason... unless he had no mother or family on earth to raise him?? maybe his mother died or was killed? we've never heard anything about her.
even if dr troyard was a brilliant scientist i am not entirely convinced that that would be sufficient reason to have him shipped all the way out to another planet - unless it was just a pretense for him returning a member of the royal family.
it might also explain the king's (the princess' grandfather) dislike/distrust of slaine and why he didnt believe him, because if slaine is really illegitimate then they would just be 'the words of a bastard child'.
though if hes a bastard then it would explain why a terran child (spat upon by every versian) received pilot and military training etc, i really doubt they would give a terran anything at all unless there was some very important reason for it...? e.g. that terran being mixed race.

or they knew that he had the potential and kept him around so as not to become a symbol that terrains are the same as martians.
symbols are powerful things and since propaganda is a major part of vars' rule over the martian people, seems a simple reason to keep him around.
There are times in history that the bastard was kept around in case the legit child gets killed (and the bastard is kept in secret). Once the old man dies, who else will have the blood line to pass on AZ?

yeah, training part makes no sense either. Everyone was so bitter at slain yet at the end, the foot soldier didn't care that he was Terran and he's in full military uniform. His dad is not there, so why do they care about his up bringing?

But I hope none of this is true, because like you many are comparing AX to GOT and add other lit and history, this story starts to be to familiar and I wont enjoy it as much.

perhaps, but i doubt they would even consider that a terran has potential for anything, given their hatred towards them. even though slaines father was an important scientist regarding the power of aldnoah, it was not sufficient for him to get treated kindly or like a vars citizen would have been treated. he was just an eyesore to everyone apart from the princess.
i agree that symbols are important things but the vars empire believes themselves to be so superior to terrans that i dont think they would 'lower themselves' to needing to keep a terran around just to continuously highlight the difference between them- they'd rather establish their superiority via greater means, such as war and military strength/capabilities (e.g. thrashing earth 15 years ago)
definitely agree with you on the blood line point- a son of royal blood is definitely invaluable and if all else fails he would be heir to the throne.

His sister already confirmed that. But it's hard to blame Slaine, he just wasn't in a balanced state of mind, and after all that shit he had to go through... I can understand him resenting Inaho for what he did to him. I would have resented him too.

But what he did mate him the biggest hypocrite ever.

how did his sister confirm it? i forgot D: *hazy mind*
mm thats true :c i feel so sorry for him to be honest.. after getting over the shock of what he did, its clear to see that he didnt act in a way that was sound of mind whatsoever. he must have been really torn up at having jumped in to save saazbaum at the last minute who was then responsible for 'killing' the princess.. and then there was the matter of inaho having gunned slaine down before too, plus inahos implication that he might extort the princess.. so then to see the princess bear affection and care for another guy (much less inaho) probably finished slaine off. at the time though i got this awful sick feeling in my stomach like i get when i hear news stories of men who kill their girlfriends or ex-girlfriends for the "if i cant have you, no one can have you" reason.

It was in like episode 10 or 9 I think, they were running mech calibrations, it's when the redhead went all crazy.

I think Slaine was just a total idiot; I did not understand his affection for Saazbaum, it was like he wanted to be his gay boyfriend... It was almost like stockholm syndrome really, except Saazbaum never really held him captive to begin with.

I can however relate with shooting Inaho, I would've done it too... Just not in the fucking head :stare: kneecap would've been enough for me there, I mean he had already broken a couple of bones and severely damaged him much less permanently than what Inaho did damaged slaine (physically that is).

But it made him a hypocrite because he claimed to be the Princesses ally and then how everybody was squashing her dreams by going to war and going against her will over her death... But then he shot her new best friend in the head when he was just trying to check if she was still alive... After all that good guy act!

There are just two things I couldn't comprehend. Why did Inaho shoot Slaine down (I think this one was just a misunderstanding...) and why the fuck did Slaine fall in gay love with Saazbaum when he knew it was his worst enemy?

I see it more as he's been brainwashed and ever since his first master (forgot his name) was killed its like the laws of his world just got warped. He shows this after the talk with saazbaum, whom he attacked at first only to decided to save him in this last ep then gun him down. He shows this again when he decides to fight against the fem pilot then in this last ep, is shooting terrans. Even goes as far as to ask that martian soldier why he saved him.

I also see it as since his father made the trip ,his father was an unhealthy enthusiast and started the whole martian worship which continued when slaine met the princess.

ohhh, when inaho's school friend got jealous right?

hmmm, i think slaine is a good guy and just had a lot of conflicting feelings. hes a very loyal person and always acts decently, so due to the fact that saazbaum saved his life after he killed cruhteo, slaine probably felt like he owed him a life debt (even though saazbaum only saved slaine to pay back his own life debt to slaine's father). i think slaine was just trying to do the decent thing- especially after what just happened with the versian that saved his life and then got gunned down. something like making up for his inability to save that soldier?

Slaine was a bit like Sasuke from naruto, it's that character you don't really hate at first (although in this case, I actually liked Slaine at first unlike Sasuke which I just thought "meh"), but then... Somehow ends up as the worst character.

It wasn't even psychological :saddummy: it was just spontaneous and random (no actually it was following a formula; otherwise I probably couldn't have seen it all coming right after Slaine smashed Inaho into a wall with his OP suit)

aww, i still love slaine despite his moment of madness. hes very much like suzaku from code geass, he has morals, a sense of justice, loyalty and a lot of faith in what he believes in.

i think slaine shot inaho because the latter drew his gun and obviously there was a lingering sense of animosity between the two after their previous encounter when inaho shot slaine down and wouldnt deny he was going to exploit the princess. grief does strange things to people, and i think now, that slaine losing the plot and shooting inaho after seeing the apple of his eye 'die' (indirectly by his own hands) was a plausible reaction to have.

And I hated Suzaku too, until the last couple of episodes when he decided to be cool :meow:

In Slaine's defense, Inaho was a dick to him a while back when he tried to reach out. It probably didn't exactly make Inaho seem trustworthy in Slaine's eyes.

There were 3 protagonists; The Princess, Inaho and Slaine. There were two antagonists, the counts. They focused on the important bits where the story was happening, which didn't leave much room for character development, sadly.

I have no idea what "Code" is, but Code Geass the anime has only ever had two seasons. There have been 2-3 OVAs based on spin-off/alternate worlds based on the manga but there certainly hasn't been an actual season.
