Starline Brush Corel Painter X3 by elsevilla Starline Brush Corel Painter X3 by elsevilla
Hi, even if i said i never ever going to share a brush after some rants from some people that hated me like they had paid for the brush, i think i finally cooled down. Anyways ive always had encourage people to find your own brushes, because they will fit like a glove to their own style. But lets face it painter its a difficult program for begginners. The difficulty to get this brush its sooo difficult, probably this is the brush that took me more time to figure out, took me more than 6 years to get this settings on this brush.

If you like me, are a guy that loves working on a mechanical pencil 0.5 in letter paper size, this brush will be a treat for you. Painte rits a great software but tried many of their brushes and felt like something was missing, i didnt felt confortable on each one, grain didnt looked right.

This works as an anchor brush also, what do i mean a bout anchor? I had the bad habit of over zooming, so i really dont have something to anchor me to the real size of the drawing, and this brush like real life mechanical pencil, you cant zoom out more, so when im drawing i got the right size, and not over zoom adding more and more detaisl that wont show on the printing.

The drawing on the image on top its over zoomed, so you can see the texture.

IMPORTANT PLEASE READ

This brush works better at the default size, dont change it, maybe you can change it to a smaller one like 3, but if you over size it it will look really bad. The paper i use its the default one in painter, this gives me a nice texture.

This brush is proporcional to real life canvas or paper, what do i mean by that?, that thisbrush works great in canvas size 11 by 8.5 inches, or even a3 size (10 x 15 inches for comic pages), the resolution i give it to you, but i like working in 300ppi or 350ppi, so create a canvas with this resolution to get the right size of digital paper.

Another Cool factor about this brush, its that it has his own color. What do i mean by that?, it means each time you use it, it will use a dark color almost black, so you wont waste time figuring out what color was it?

But what about if you mess up the size or color by mistake? Well its pretty easy to reset the brush by default, do you see the icon i got circled on the image on top? Well thats a reset button, each time you press it, the brush will return to default.

Also set up the brush tracking to a better feel to the hand, each person has their own brush tracking, What is brush tracking? Its a special feature on painter that lets you control pressure at will on the brush, for more info google it.

Okay the installation its pretty simple, just download it unzip it, then open corel painter x3, then go to brushes, go to import then go tobrush, so import a brush, this is not a category or a set, its just a brush, sooooo, go to the carpet, click on the file, and its done, a new brush will appear in your set.

The steps were simple, so i wont be answering silly questions.

Im so happy about this brush so i wanted to share it, probably it wont fit your taste because its customized for mysself, but if you like it, that will be awesome.

HAPPY DRAWINGS PEOPLE.

Wow people gave you trouble for a brush you took the time to share and explain ect that's ridiculous
Of course some people won't find a certain brush useful but that is not the creators fault it's just style
Anyway I am grateful thank you! I'm very new to art I only started drawing when I became disabled because I had no hobbies left I've been paper drawing 2 years and got a copy of painter a couple of months ago so I i am totally new and anyone who shares knowledge is so helpful
Thanks again

I agree, when you say a brush is like a glove, that's why I make my own most of the time, but I'm not used to corel painter, and I'm still getting used to making brushes. And wow, I had no idea it takes so long to make the right brush, it really is difficult... x)

Anyway, thanks for sharing. No artist is required to share their brushes. No two people draw the same way.

Yeah specially with brush tracking, and some brushes might work for a person but not for another because of the pressure settings, instead of opacity.

I agree, not only that, but everyone has their own natural pen stroke. I can understand someone would want a certain texture, but it's impossible to draw just like someone else. What's comfortable to me, may not be comfortable to someone else. To be honest, every brush that I got from someone I always had to modified it, I probably tried thousands of brushes, and not one of them worked for me without changing it somewhat. Style to me is like hand writing. x) And no two people hold a pencil the same way, so I completely understand.

I'm always thankful for the tutorials and the brushes, and just resources in general that skilled and talented artist like you share. <3 I use corel painter 2016, and it works really well, like wow, what a nice pencil brush. I'm not taking it for granted or anything, I love this brush so much, you did such a great job with it. It feels and looks like a real pencil to me. I feel like doing the same thing you are doing, only with SAI though. But, this one artist said that, there is only three types of brushes, hard, soft and lost. What he means by lost is, like texture and stuff or in between. One of my favorite artists, sycra Yasin, said that we live in a golden age where you can learn so much online alone, and I am so thankful for that, because, I am a self taught artist, and I am on a very limited budget. But, I feel like people shouldn't pressure artists into giving their settings, and brush textures. That's up to them whether they want to share it or not, I think it's kind of sill actually, to make such a big deal about brushes. xD It's the heart of the artist that counts. So, I hope people are grateful for artists like you. :>

Gracias!!

I'm a little late to the party, but this is a FANTASTIC brush!  I appreciate your sharing it, even in Painter 2015 it is EXACTLY what I have been looking for in brush settings myself!  I can't help but think you've saved me another 6 years of searching through settings!  Thank you for sharing the brush!

 Hello i am having some truble with uploading brushes into corel painter x3. i had a few brushes for corel painter 12 and when i upgraded it to corel painter x3 all those brushes were gone, so i tryed to re-upload them and its doing nothing, i mean the folders are not opening and uploading the brushes at all.

by the way the only way i can upload a brush into corel is by going to OC> program files> Corel> Corel Painter 12> brushes

its a long proses but it works. i can not go to inporte anything because it can not find the files.

P.S for some odd reason i cant even upload your brush

Yeah i know that sucks, what i do its screen capture the settings and start from scratch to avoid bugs, if you want to get thecaptured brushes go to user and appdata if you have windows, there is a corel painter carpet there. But when i move to a new version i like to start from scratch, its like getting rid of old cloths that are really bad. Also remaking the brushes helps you memorize them.

its ok i kinda figured it out.

when i got corel painter x3 it duplicated my version of painter 11 and 12. when i got it it did not continue on the original program, it started brand new :P

so my brushes are on corel painter 12 so i just go back and forth between programs.

but thank you. i will try what you said to do.

sorry for all of this.

As the saying goes: "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime" what noobs like me really need to do is learn how to make our own brushes :meow: but that said, it is very hard for a beginner to even know what kind of brush he wants to use without using brushes made by other artists first.

Sadly I do not use painter right now (this is chiefly because they do not support Linux but also because of course; I don't want to blow a load of cash into Corel's face when I'm only just starting to learn digital painting either, that would be foolish right?) so I cannot use your brush :saddummy: (Only way for me to use it would be if I were to find a way to convert corel compatible brushes into krita compatible brushes, this would be awesome indeed)

Anyhow, sharing is caring, and you're doing it right  so even if I personally can't use it, thanks anyways. Hopefully one day you'll find the time to try to make tutorials for beginners such as myself on some of the areas you are best in (coloring for one, operating painter for another).

It sounds (and looks) pretty amazing, I'll have to seek out a way to convert Painter brushes to Krita ones La la la la to tell the truth I've always had problems with finding the right brush to do sketches, this might help out with that. I found an ok pen brush by David Revoy, but that is still a pen :( (Sad) not a pencil!

you have many black and white drawings in your gallery and they all seem to be pencil, they are also in the traditional category, are they made digitally with this brush? If not, do you have any drawings make with this brush i can see?
i tried corel painter but the many many brushes and how they behaved confused me so i postponed learning it better, but this brush is amazing. I am just curious how a complete drawing made with it would look, how 'traditional' it would look :D
