Emma Goldman

So here goes the ninth illustration of #quietresilience . Perhaps this woman is better known than others in the project. But she had to be included. I feel totally inspired by her words and speeches and her struggle throughout her life. For the liberation of women, right to free love, for equality between human beings and a freer society...and some other things.
'The motto should not be, forgive one another; rather understand one another'

I just came across your gallery, Elia. I love this illustration! The use of red is very apropros, and I love the defiant and determined profile that you gave her. It's an outstanding interpretation of Emma. I like, too, how you embedded a representation of the people for whom she advocated ... almost under her protection.

I love the use of red alone as a stark contrast with monochrome/greyscale. I do it a lot myself-- but it's so so so effective here in telling Goldman's story and expressing her passion. This is a moving piece.
