I definitely do take that as a compliment. I have a number of works that remind viewers of Dali, and I think you are right in pointing out that, though very different in subject, color, and approach, the composition, and I suspect the juxtaposition of highly representative figures and surreal imagery, are what lend to that reminiscence. I have a great respect for Dali, though I don't feel I have any direct influence; I think it is more that I am proximate enough to his zeitgeist, and perhaps working from a similar enough ratio of corporeal and conceptual reflection and conception. Dali and I both were interested in some genuine way in divulging the subconscious mind into visual expression as well as an academic excellence in production--and as we are close enough in time, culture, and species it make sense the basis for our visual solutions might be related. But anyway, I am very glad you can enjoy this piece, and thank you for the attention and appraisal. :)

In most of my "psychedelic" works, the composition is often in flux long into the process.  I might begin with a primitive idea, but often I find myself discovering it the entire time it is being created.  The product is the result of the interaction of a feedback loop between my mind (and its context at the moment), and the medium smeared over time.  Usually then the archetypes and imagery which instantiate mature and evolve into a final form, which I discover literally in the moment they arrive, if that makes sense.
