Nearing Midnight

As a result of my not submitting much art last year, I've been trying to crank out some hasty pictures to make up for it. Consequentially I've been doing more flitting from drawing to drawing and not finishing anything, but at least with this one I forced myself to look it in the face and get it done before bedtime, even if that meant taking a lot of shortcuts. It's pretty blah in several places, but it could be worse.

I drew Minnie pretty easily some time ago when I was feeling blocked (ballerinas are one of my go-to things when I'm struggling). Then I was wanting to give it a little color, but I thought, y'know, I've been doing a lot of solo Minnie stuff so I wanted to add Mickey in there as well. Hoo boy...I fussed over everything to do with Mickey all through this. The pose, the clothes, the stupid hat. I don't even know what he's wearing but at least he is wearing something. Also he's too tall and she's too short but shhhh

I don't know what ballet they're doing. Cinderella? Swan Lake? Maybe Giselle if you squint? Or maybe it's a new thing altogether. Either way I'm pretty sure Mickey's on that stage because somebody broke their leg and he couldn't keep his baby hanging. Luckily he's too distracted by her to be self-conscious at the moment.
