I'm back in the Thorki fandom and I can only thank Taika Waititi for that.
Unfortunately I missed the Thorki hype back in 2011 when the first Thor film was released because of stupid reasons, and when I watched "The Avengers" I just didn't get it, Loki as a power-hungry diva didn't do it for me.
I had to start working on a Loki cosplay in spring 2013 and watch the films from the beginning for reference purposes to finally understand why Thorki was so strong. It all started in the "Thor" deleted scene before the coronation, that's when I finally got it. Then it was Tom Hiddleston's unbelievable appearance in SDCC 2013 and the waiting for "The Dark World", a movie which I loved back then for all its flaws because all the promotion was based on Loki and his relationship with Thor. And what can I say, all the Thorki scenes were awesome even if Loki "died" early on and the movie kinda sucked in general. "The Dark World" helped me cope with a tough situation in my life back then, kept me distracted.
So back in 2013 I had started a Thorki fic that I left unfinished, life happened, I was too busy with the Loki costume situation (and the person who got me into all this) and, to be honest, I just never gave Thorki the attention it deserved art-wise. This is what happens when you put your own projects and hobbies aside to give all your time and energies to the projects of others, you miss out on stuff. The Loki costume person "left the stage" in summer 2016, when the "Thor:Ragnarok" filming started, when we would see vids like this
Thor in a comedy role was HILARIOUS and I loved the Game of Thrones reference with the raven (season 6 of GoT was airing at the time and I was IN LOVE). As for Tom Hiddleston's video, it was uploaded during my crazy GoT fangirling period and three days after the Loki costume person "left the building", and when I saw the vid I was drowning in a pool of sorrow. Seeing Tom Hiddleston put his Loki wig on and saying "He's back" I thought, in the totally numb state of mind that I was: "...Loki..? How is Loki even relevant now? After all this time who cares...?" It had been three years since "The Dark World" after all. Too damn long. And oh, the Taylor Swift thing, what the hell was that... >__< What a turn off.
The day I went to see "Thor:Ragnarok" was a day like all the others. I hadn't slept, I was tired, I was even busy bitching and fighting Tormund hate on tumblr and I didn't even want to get up from my laptop but ugh whatever, let's go see "Ragnarok", we've bought the tickets after all. By the end of the movie I was entranced. Everything had changed. I had completely forgotten why I was angry that day (still can't remember what happened), I went back to shipping Thorki in a flash, I was... thankful. Thankful that they were back. Thankful that Taika, Chris and Tom gave us so much love.
Thankful that in my head they weren't connected to the "Loki costume situation" anymore.
Now, after 2013 and my unfinished Thorki projects, after all the heartbreak and the waste of time, I'm reclaiming Thor and Loki, I'm making them mine at last.
