Okja by ElbenherzArt Okja by ElbenherzArt
"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress
can be judged by the way its animals are treated."

Personal painting to the movie Okja. (It's on Netflix :D)
The quote is not from the movie itself but should help to transfer my message. :)

Process is on my artstation: www.artstation.com/artwork/1gP…

I cried like a little bitch watching this movie. I usually don't let myself get sucked too deep into the emotions a film wants you to fell since I always watch with one critical eye on possible propaganda and/or emotional manipulation. But this hit me on a point that I didn't expect. Although having already seen real videos of animals being slaughtered (and therefore being a vegetarian for half of my life), the last few minutes of this movie had me swimming in tears. How can society be so indifferent and cruel to feeling creatures? Animals have no sense for evil, they know nothing of perfidy or malevolence, they are genuinely innocent. They should not be allowed to suffer for our insatiable hunger for more.

I ask myself that question every day. Every day I go to the grocery store and see all these dead animal bodies everywhere. It's like walking into a grave yard without the graves and you can see the rotting corpses.
It's an horrible industry (like the dairy and egg industry)  and 90% of the people have cognitive defense mechanisms going on that justifies their meat consumption. Without these mechanisms the world would be at least vegetarian in an instant. Tho the only way to actually save animals is by being vegan, since the dairy and egg industry slaughters as well. All the billions of male chicks that get killed every single day. We are not living in the stone age anymore. Our modern first world society doesn't need to kill and slaughter billions of animals. There are other ways, but it's too much effort for most people and of course, money. Those three industries control the world along with the pharma industries and feed each other money to keep us oblivious to what happens behind the scenes.

Danke dir! :)
Freut mich, dass es dir gefällt. Der Friedhof soll auch zum Nachdenken anregen. :)
