Goodfellow's Tree Kangaroo
Population: No data
Status: Critically endangered
"This species is endemic to the island of New Guinea (Papua New Guinea only), where it occurs in the mid-montane areas of the Central Cordillera. It may have previously occurred in lowland areas, however, it now appears to be extirpated from this part of its range. The species is highly threatened by hunting for food and is traded internally for cultural reasons by local people, and additionally by habitat loss through local deforestation for wood and timber, and by shifting cultivation and coffee plantations and rice (dryland) and wheat."
I decided to dedicate this years inktober mostly to endangered, extinct or enslaved animal species. In November I'll sell some of the originals to raise money for local animal shelters. <3
Tried out a different style with the brushpen here. I think it's too much information. A lot of it is not needed. But yeah...I want to try as many different approaches as possible this year.
As for this little guy, I remember I googled tree kangaroos a couple years back and fell in love - i mean it's a clumsy fuzzy tree-dwelling kangaroo, what's not to love
Definitely gonna be watching and following your instagram. Keep up the great job!
Very much appreciated!
Animals need all the help they can get from people that care. Be it via photos, drawings, peditions, writing, or what ever. <3
