Location

This show is held at Oak Brooke Stables, based in the very north of Scotland. If you would like to google our location to get a better sense of scenery and to appreciate the beautiful beach a stone's throw away from our doorstep, please google 'Armadale, Sutherland'. We are set across the road from the beach, set back into the landscape. Our facilities also have a small loch named Lochan Bruth which is located next to a woodland area; both which are utilised in the cross country. I'm not going to be too fussy on complete accuracy, but points will be rewarded to those who have captured the essence of this landscape. Extra information about specific class locations will be posted under the class information. If you have any questions about what our facilities look like, please comment, note me, or catch me on Discord as Elantair#0047 (for a fast reply use discord!)
Remember, this show takes place in AUTUMN

Weather

Sunrise begins: 8am
Sunset begins: 6pm

Thursday

Crisp day with a cold start. High of 14 degrees C, quite warm for the season. While initially cold, the day warms up  quickly after sunrise to peak at around 1pm. A beautiful day leads way to a beautiful sunset. Once the sun has set the temperature drops quickly so be sure to gather round the bonfire at the beach party to stay warm! The night is clear, stars and the moon clearly visible. You may also get to see the Northern Lights!

Friday

A cold rainy morning, temperature hovering around 9 degrees C. Showers decrease in frequency throughout the afternoon, with clear skies by 5pm for the sunset.  Once the sunsets, the night gets cloudy.

Saturday

The sun rises to a dewy morning with a hint of frost, making the grass slippery. As the day progresses, a high of 13 degrees makes a pleasant day for cross country.

Sunday

Another dewy morning with a few rain showers during the final trot up. However, the clouds clear for the rest of the morning. In the afternoon the temperature peaks at 14 degrees with a chance of thunderstorms.

Best Dressed Handler: Winner will receive a special rosette and 25:points:. To qualify, the handler must be completely visible, unless for an artistic reason (ie perspective)
Best Groomed Horse: Winner will receive a special rosette, sash, and 25:points:. To qualify, the horse must be completely visible, unless for an artistic reason

Location:
Located at #2 on my stable map pictured above.

The Beach Race

As this is not a 'real' class and purely for fun, with all horses being able to enter, this class will be judged 50% RNG, 50% effort. The beach is not that long, so this is a 1 mile sprint from one end to the other. The race is followed by a beach BBQ, so bring your characters along for a bonfire, music and plenty of food/drink!

Location:
This race takes place on Armadale beach. This location is REAL, therefore completely google-able!

    Requirements:
- Horses must be over 3 years old- Tack for horses is OPTIONAL
- Riders may dress however they want, however crash helmets for riders are MANDATORY
- No Previous experience required

Dressage

General Information
- Riders must wear formal attire
- Horses' manes should be braided and they should be turned out to a high standard

Location
The arena has been set up on the left hand side of the loch, just off the edge of the map. This means the loch plus forest is visible. To the other side are some paddocks, but as this the land gets higher this turns to moorland, landscape typical for the location. The dressage fence is white, and like this. The letters are on raised cones like this, surrounded by fallen oak leaves in a range of green-red autumn colours. The footing is grass.

- No previous experience required for horses
- No double bridles or spurs
-Riders may wear crash helmets only
- Horses may wear polo wraps, and training whips may be used

Show Jumping

General Information
- Riders must wear formal attire
- Horses should be well turned out. Mane braiding optional

Location
The arena has been set up on the left hand side of the loch, just off the edge of the map. This means the loch plus forest is visible. To the other side are some paddocks, but as this the land gets higher this turns to moorland, landscape typical for the location. The arena is grass footed and marked with white temporary fencing like this (not the dressage fencing, but that behind it). Spectators can watch from behind this fencing, standing only.

The Jumps
I have designed a set of 4 show jumps for all 3 classes. HOWEVER, you are completely free to design your own jump, ideally with a Scottish theme. You will be marked on either the accuracy of the jump you use, or the creativity in designing your own. While your horse does not have to be jumping one of the jumps, one jump must be at least 3/4 visible in your entry.
For the novice and intermediate class, please just lower the poles on the jump. The only exception is for the 'Hamish the Highland Cow' jump. Hamish is half solid, then half bricks (his design is painted on a 60cm deep wall-type jump, so is actually FLAT on both sides. For the novice and intermediate classes, there are smaller versions of Hamish. I'm not going to be too picky with accuracy, but for reference, Old Pultney is a real type of whisky, so google-able! Also Duncansby Stacks are real stacks and also google-able!

Information for the dressage and show jumping phases are the same as the individual competitions. The cross country information will be posted below. Again, this discipline has 3 classes: novice, intermediate and 4*.

XC for the 3-Day Eventers

General Information
- Riders may wear any colours they want, but must wear a body protector/air jacket and crash helmet
- Horses should be well turned out. Mane braiding optional

Location
The XC track takes place all round OBS stables, with a loop out to the beach and then back. There are jumps located in the shallows of the loch and also in the small forest behind the loch as well as in the open countryside/moorland. The course is laid out using the typical white rope and steaks seen on most courses.

The Jumps
As with the showjumping, I have designed a set of 5 cross country jumps. HOWEVER, you are completely free to design your own jump, ideally with a Scottish theme. You will be marked on either the accuracy of the jump you use, or the creativity in designing your own. If you do not include a jump in your entry, you will get 2/5 for the obstacle accuracy/creativeness judging category.
For each different class, please adjust the size/height of the jumps accordingly!
'The Kelpies' are based off of these, but recreated in wood. The Glenfinnan viadut is real, and has been adapted to be not so big! Nessie is based off the Loch Ness monster, and the humps of decreasing height are one for each class. Nessie is situated in WATER. The rest of the jumps can be placed wherever you like!
