I want to make this blog after everything really went well to my decision. Many were asking for an update so here it is! I divided it into 2 parts.
My College Adventure
PART 1/2: MY ACCOUNTANCY LIFE AT UST!
* Part 2: eizu.deviantart.com/journal/33… *
I studied at the University of Santo Tomas (UST) AMV-College of Accountancy for two years (June 2008 to March 2010.) Among the universities in the Philippines, it is currently Top 4 www.4icu.org/ph/
Accountancy life at a prestigious school like UST has always been so stressful for everyone, especially for me. Every degree with licensure exam is expected to be on top standard. But if you graduated in high school with honors Im sure you can survive. We started with 23 sections in first year, but I heard there are now 9 sections left in BS Accountancy.
I looked pale on every major exams week and had fever after every for two years. Yeah, I pushed myself too hard because I want to prove to myself that I can handle everything with patience and perseverance. And I aimed not to fail any subject and get more than just the passing grade because I want my transcript of records to look good so it was okay to have sleepless nights on tough days. 2nd yr 1st sem started the evolution of my pimples. LOL! I hated it. But I didnt fail any subject.
2nd year 2nd sem, only 1 student from our class passed the Financial Accounting prelim exam, so many really failed the course in the end. This course was really tough because I cannot cope with my professors way of teaching so I have to study on my own. But the scope to review has many chapters and time was too short considering that I have to pass all of my other subjects as well (had 27 units..supposed to be 29, good thing I took PE last summer). I pitied myself for not learning from him that much, I didnt blame myself though. So, I failed it but no regrets because I know I did my best to cope up with the situation.
The scariest accounting exams of all were the major exams made by the dean because very few usually pass them. I just hope accounting professors can really answer them before testing our knowledge. Accounting quizzes were all departmentalized (as well as all major subjects), so we just have to pray that the questions would come from our own profs.
My WORST Professor ever!
My Rizal Course prof was the worst teacher ever. Shes the most heartless human Ive ever met! LOL! Considering that we reported (I was the group leader) and passed the requirements that she asked of everyone to get consideration in passing the course. From the feedbacks I heard, RC is easy in other UST college departments even my brothers (Hes a Civil Engineering Major in UST), others got a take home finals
geez! Many really failed and I didnt expect to fail too and it was so disappointing.
Actually, she was my prof in History on my 1st yr 1st sem. And she was ok. It was only after getting my clearance that I knew shes a terror in Rizal Course. I just hope that the accountancy administration keeps an eye on her! Ew! Well, thats life!
Btw, to the foreigners, Jose Rizal is our National Hero and his works have been part of school curriculum since high school.
My Best Professor ever!
My best was my Business Calculus Prof. I really dont have to study hard to pass her course because just by listening to her teachings which was so great got me a very good prelim grade, about 92%. While in other sections, they really had a hard time studying calculus because the style of their professors teaching was different. There was a time when I forgot that we were having a quiz that day but still I got a good grade. And I had a mistake in my finals schedule, I thought that it will be Business marketing first but hell no, it was calculus first so I wasnt able to review before taking the finals and expected to get a little less than my prelim grade.
My weirdest attitude as a UST student!
I often got this attitude of not giving my best during the first half of every sem. But after seeing my prelim grades, wow! I love cramming Baby! Haha! Of course my accounting subject cant be part of this.
And I remember I failed all my quizzes and prelim in Business Statistics because I hardly understood the course haha. But after seeing my prelim grade, I dont know how my quizzes and finals got so good (all 90%+ scores) and made me pass the course, lol. See Im not a quitter!
And I do draw every day, even during major exams! NO! No one can stop me from doing so! LOL! But I do hide my drawing tablet during tough days of the semester because studies come first and art coloring takes a lot of time compared to just sketching.
My best as a UST student!
Best Leadership Award for NSTP thrilled me because I didnt expect to get one. When my name was called, I actually thought there might be another Diana Santos out there. Good thing it was re-announced Diana Santos from AMV College of Accountancy haha. All of USTs NSTP students were required to be at the quadrangle for NSTP graduation. I wont forget that haha.
When it comes to Literature, Humanities, and Computer Subjects
I need not worry lol! I did very good in PE, NSTP, and Theology
yeah all minor subjects haha. I really love swimming so I got a perfect grade there. Actually, I think I can be a good athlete! You may see me very lady like but when it comes to sports, I can give my best. I might not beat every guy in table tennis, but I swear I can play and score higher than other girls in my class. I also love SOFTBALL! But I never got the chance to hit a home run because I only have few turns TT_TT and I never failed my team in my turn! It was the most interesting game I ever played. I took modern dance as PE lol, I like it but I just didnt like the frequent practices considering that we had 32 units on the first sem of 2nd year, so tight! Our group got an excellent grade for winning 1st place on our final dance exam.
TO BE CONTINUED...
This is part 1/2 so please watch out for the part two tomorrow
