Magpie Icon 1

My initial response when I came across this piece was, "wow." The lines and the piece itself seems simple, but it is very well done and is eye-catching in the way of design and nature. I am very much into tattoo art, and although this is not in that category at all, I can see quite a beautiful and softly coloured tattoo in this piece.
I am very pleased that this bird is not a sparrow. Too many bird orientated designs these days (in tattoos also) are sparrows and the fact that this is a magpie, pleases me. It is original and unusual. The small stem the magpie carries in it's mouth is lovely and adds to the piece some characteristics about birds in general.
I think the slight shading of the lines is effective and adds to the stand-out nature of this piece.
Overall, I really like this and I say kudos for the use of a magpie instead of a sparrow. Simple yet strong.
