Adopt Auction Etiquette

As a host:
  • Be there to monitor your auction (or at least, the end of the auction)
  • Make sure you post a starting bid, increment, and auto buy (if not now, then later; or state there is none) and snipe guard (advised, but no necessary)
  • State the payment type. i.e., payment (and currency) and/or deviantart points
  • Put the end time and time zone (post a world clock if needed)
  • If situation arises of two or more bidders bids conflicting, make sure you have a way of dealing with it (ex. if two people bid the same amount, the person who bids first can be the winner or you can deal with it some other way like re-auction; or if someone bids out of the time frame, the previous bidder may or may not get the bid, depending on you)
  • Make sure to note how valid bids will be placed (i.e., under a "Bid Here" comment, a reply to highest bidder, etc. or a combination of whatever you want)
  • Be sure to have adopt rules if needed

As a bidder:
  • Do not bid if you do not have the money
  • Monitor the auction
  • Do not back out of a bid unless you have an emergency that has arisen (even then, talk to the host)
  • Look for bids (make sure you're not bidding less or the same amount)
  • Make sure to read the adopt maker's rules
  • If a conflict arises, handle it maturely
  • Understand the auction set-up
  • Learn and come to terms that you don't have all the money in the world to throw at a design and that you're saving yourself money in the long run because that's money you're not spending and can spend elsewhere on other lovely things

I've almost got screwed twice with adopt auctions and times and bidding and just no. I can't deal.

  5. The linked adopts above are not what I am only looking for from that designer; those are just my favorites and something similar would be great
