Toys "R" Us is still going strong in Canada. I think this would be a great redesign for Geoffrey in Canada

The internet has truly killed the greatest toy store in the world. Looks like gefferey will be missed and go to mascot retirement home

I preferred Target more but I give my deepest condolences to those who grew up as Toys R Us kids.

I still can't believe Toys R Us is gone in America now. It's incredibly depressing.

I just went there a couple days ago and ended up making what could very well be my last purchase there. It deserves to stay in business.

It deserves to be sold to a competent company who could have kept it afloat, or maybe even brought it back.  The whole brick and mortar retail sector is dying because of online sales, I understand, but there was clearly some sort of mismanagement (much like with Hostess).  Then again, the only demographics that buy toys are preschoolers (hence why you can't punt a football and not hit something with Paw Patrol on it), or 20, 30+ year old collectors. The thing that sucks is that there was stuff only TRU was willing to carry.  Stuff you couldn't find at Target (which clears stuff out on the regular) or Wal*Mart.  Now that niche market dried up.

I fall into the collectors category that you mentioned. It really goes to show that you could be as old I am and still be a Toys "Я" Us kid.

Now although they've of course fallen victim to online stores such as Amazon, they, from what I read, are not the primary reasons for Toys "Я" Us' demise as many people claim. The real problems that Toys "Я" Us faced were much more internal. Even so, I refer to the demise of Toys "Я" Us as the toy apocalypse.

As for my last visit there, which was back on March 8th, I only went there just to offer them my condolences and wish them the best of luck, but it turns out they had a couple pieces of Sonic stuff that I decided to buy. I still have the green shopping bag used to carry my purchase home. As for my receipt, I put it in the recycling bin (after taking the survey for the heck of it) without realizing what I was doing. By the time I realized the receipt was missing, it could have very easily been too late. Earlier today, however, I fished through the bin and found it at the very bottom. The receipt now hangs in my room as another memento of what is more than likely going to be my last dance with this fun store chain. I'm going to miss them.

As for me, now I have to make a panicked rush to get to one in the next couple of weeks and pray they have the exclusive Ren and Stimpy Nickelodeon figures.  At least the set.  If I don't grab that sort of thing now, I doubt any of the other retailers will pick up the slack on that one.  You know what that means.  E-bay and Amazon scalpers.

Hard to believe that Toys R Us went the way of Toyworks/KB Toys
