Ok, this is it. In about one week, on next Thursday to be exact, I will be going to Canada for a year. One year of work & travel. The plans have been in the making for a long time and it always seemed so far away but now it's damn close. It feels really weird. On one hand I'm absolutely stoked about all the wonderful experiences ahead of me: new people, new working experiences and of course the stunning beauty of Canada's nature. On the other hand I'm anxious because I don't know how I'm going react to all the dear people and things I leave behind. I have never been away from home for longer than four weeks so one year is twelve times as much. At least I won't be entirely on my own. One of my absolute best friends is going to accompany me which gives me a great deal of confidence. To know that there always is a person you trust 100 % is reassuring like nothing else.
I'm not entirely sure how this will affect deviantart. What's certain is that I'm going to post tons of pictures of my travels. I just can't say when that's going to happen or how often or in what kind of intervals. At the moment I don't have a real schedule planned out. All I know is that we will be flying to Whitehorse, Yukon, in the beginning of September and drive to the Tombstone Territorial Park from there.
Tombstone will be our first big destination and we are going to spend a week there, including a three night backpacking trip into the backcountry. After that we are probably going to stay in Whitehorse for a few days to try to pick up a car. Everything after is written in the stars for now.^^
Ok, now on to the beautiful part. Over the past year and a half I have been collecting photographs showing all sorts of places in Canada. I tried to find photographs of as many places as possible which turned out to be rather difficult because there is an abundance of pictures of the Canadian Rockies but not that much else. I was still able to gather a decent collection imho. This is a large feature, please bear with it. I hope you are going to enjoy all these beautiful photographs as much as I did. Get your coffee ready, sit back and enjoy!

Change is relative
TL;DR: First there are some picture to make you depressed and then there are some more at the bottem to make you happy. :stupidme:
Change is a strange matter. Sometimes it's really hard to notice, or at least the extend of it, when it happens over a longer period of time. Even if you realise the change is happening and very severe, you often miss a point of comparison. Without comparing I feel the brain is not really able to contextualise the change that has happened before our eyes. You see the state of what is right now but the memories of how it was a few years back are hazy. Photographs can help us regain those memories and enable us to clearly see and assess change. Now, why am I writing this?
This summer I hiked up the Brocken. The trail starts out in a valley with mostly deciduous forest. Some of the wooded areas seemed thinner than I remembered and there were even some gaping holes. I quickly realised the cause: There are - or were - a few pine plantations along the way
Random Feature #14
Another selection of art I intended to feature a long time ago. Please enjoy!
Random Feature #13
Hello everyone, I haven't done a feature in ages. Because I still collected pieces to feature, I now have 20 page backlog... Let's see if I can do these random feature a bit more often again to catch up. On thing that certainly makes this a lot easier are the new "add deviations" and "grid" functions. This is literally the first improvement I noticed since the site moved to eclipse. Anyhow, please enjoy the art below.
Random Feature #12
The other day I accidentally realised I haven't done a feature since September last year. I could have sworn I put one out sometime in between... Well, here it is. Please enjoy.
